Château Salavaux

The staff is so warm and friendly upon arrival. The bed was very comfortable. And the room was well appointed. The food was absolutely delicious. We had a fabulous dinner and buffet breakfast each morning. We went for a wedding celebration and went the night before just to enjoy ourselves. So glad we did. There are some rooms where you can go to read or have tea or a cocktail. It was perfect.

My wife and I stayed at the Château for two nights and really enjoyed our stay. The staff is charming, the food (both breakfast and dinner) was great and the hotel room was cozy. With Avenches and Morat just around the corner, there's plenty to see on a weekend. Plus: With the bus stop right around the corner it's also really easily accessible by public transport. We are looking forward to coming back some time during the warmer months of the year and enjoying the culinary part of the stay outside in the beautiful garden.

Just a really wonderful experience, from the hearty welcome to the dinner under a starlit sky like in southern France to the very cosy room. And not to speak of the great breakfast buffet. We'll definitely be back!!!

We had a very enjoyable time during our stay at this place. The managing team is excellent and making sure that you stay is comfortable. The room we had was modern and functionable. In short - nothing fancy but quite comfortable. The restaurant offers excellent food but in the upper end from a price standpoint. I believe that the management team has decided to focus more on short stay and gastronomic cuisine than guest spending a week for relaxation. If you were to stay several nights the menu could offer more options im the mid-range price. Local products and quality are clearly a priority and much appreciated at our end.

We stumbled upon this magnificent hidden gem while traveling from Lausanne to Zurich. This storybook chateau and its lovely owners were so welcoming and accommodating-they offered a historic room and added a bed for our son. They welcomed us without reservations to one of the best dinners we have had in our travels. The seasonal menu highlighted local cuisine and farm fresh ingredients- our favorites were the scallop carpaccio and truffle risotto. They went out of their way to bring gluten free bread to accompany the homemade chili butter. The wine was amazing, the food exquisite, but the hospitality was what truly makes this place a treasure. The grounds are enchanting for an evening stroll or a morning walk or after a bountiful breakfast with offerings like farm inspired omelettes and fresh croissants. Don’t miss this absolutely wonderful, historic, and perfect taste of Switzerland!!!!
