Good location, no amenities

Hotel Villa Traiano is a bona fide luxury hotel. U.S. travelers, fear not: when I arrived at Benevento train station I thought, “Oh boy, we’re not in Kansas anymore.” I felt like I was whisked back to the Soviet Bloc with 30-year-old cars and 70-year-old tenement houses. But when the hotel’s (super friendly) private cab driver pulled up in front of the hotel, I was very pleasantly surprised. Villa Traiano is a legit hotel: ultra clean; beautiful, modern finishes; automated sliding glass doors; the whole deal. It is just like any current, high-end hotel you’d find in a major U.S. city. My suite (room 714), like the rest of the hotel, was clean, spacious, and had all expected modern amenities (digitally controlled A/C, beverage fridge, an assortment of high-end soaps, shampoos, and body lotions, plush bath robes, and soft, high-quality bath towels). Highlights included the supremely comfortable bedding, strong water pressure from the rainfall shower head, and the jetted tub. Breakfast was delicious with a full assortment of pastries, juices, yogurt, fruit, and cold cuts, and all the front desk staff were friendly and near-fluent English speakers. From someone who stays regularly at high-end hotels across the U.S., Hotel Villa Traiano comes highly recommended.

Rooms in disrepair. A bar that isn’t open. Slow restaurant service. A throbbing loud teenage party at midnight that makes it impossible to sleep and throngs of people smoking everywhere. The front desk says “nothing can be done” and refuses to give the name of the manager. What a joke.

We stayed in the higher end rooms that are actually in an adjacent building accessed from within the main hotel. People were very professional and helpful. Good dinner reccomendation and a tiny bar off the lobby. Rooms were spotless and a nice design. Quiet and comfortable. They have their own garage, so stop in the lobby and they will direct you in and take your baggage from the garage. Easy walk to restaurants and the main shopping street, which is pedestrian only and feels not only safe, but like it belongs in a much larger city. High end unique shops over 4-5 blocks.

Nel complesso un buon hotel. In effetti un po’ vecchio almeno nella stanza a me assegnata. All’arrivo l’hotel è molto affascinante, le zone comuni sono molto curate e di impatto. La camera decisamente no. Molto piccola e con letti piccoli e scomodi. Va bene usare letti singoli ma così piccoli si usavano 50 anni fa. Nota negativa il bagno molto piccolo ma soprattutto la doccia con il suo ingresso talmente stretto da avere difficoltà nell’entrarci, ed io sono magro!Buona la colazione. Il prezzo nella media essendo praticamente in centro città. Parcheggio a pagamento
