We booked at the hotel Rocamar last year in Feb 24 had a lovely stay, we felt welcome and valued. The hotel reception area was welcoming and calm, a very stark contrast to the experience this year. We experienced an empty lobby when we walked in with no signs or instructions that we were now in the wrong hotel lobby! I saw on the website of the hotel that they had merged with the hotel next door now the clopy group of hotels. After we tried to call and the call was unanswered twice, I decided to walk next door, to establish this is where we should be, I explained we had been next door, to shrugged shoulders and no apology as we had not been informed. The check in process was lengthy and no communication minimal, the new reception desk was too tall and the staff looked ridiculous behind it as all you saw was the tops of the heads, no furniture in the area, just a staircase, no where to sit and wait for other guests you may have come with, After being returning guests we expected to have a normal room, we were given rooms on the ground floor on the same corridor as the main entrance which was constantly noisy, incoming and outgoing guests, staff just having a conversation (which felt like shouting). The room on a positive note was clean, refresh and comfortable beds, plenty of hot water, the down side was being on the ground floor (street level), no balcony just an window, were you heard everything, no cups/glasses placed in the room, tea or coffee facilities had been removed from last year. Vending machine in the hotel lobby (next to reception). We didn’t feel valued or welcome on this trip and I will not be returning to the clopy Rocamar next year. This is a trip we now make every year with our friends who also stay in the same hotel with us, we all felt the same. The hotel is in great position and a responsible price, but I felt like I was staying in hostel not a 3* hotel. 3 nights from 26/02 - 01/03.
