Hotel Avenida

I was put in a room that felt like a prison cell I had to put my head out of the window then look up 5 flights to see the SKY it was absolutely stifling I asked for a fan as they don't put a/c on till later in the year the fan just sent hot air around the room NEVER been in hotel without outside space before apparently I was in the middle of the hotel

We have stayed at the Avenida twice before and were looking forward to 3 weeks in January. Our main issue was the freezing cold air conditioning in the bar and public areas. We repeatedly asked for it to be turned off but were met with negative comments from the staff. We had a lovely room with sea views but it was freezing cold, I slept with my clothes on every night . We complained about the cold room and were told that an engineer would make sure we could turn the air con to warm, it didn’t happen. Both my husband and I developed chest infections as did several other guests, we suspect it was the air con. After a week of being cold and poorly we paid to come home 10 days early. The hotel has gone downhill, food was poor quality and the bar area is looking very shabby. We were supposed to go back in March but have changed our booking to a hotel which is worthy of 4 stars unlike the Avenida. I would not recommend this hotel and would never return.

Excellent location near old and new town. Brilliant room with city and sea views, coffee machine and huge corner balcony. Food was good and drinks were branded. Best of visit were all the staff who were exceptionally friendly, efficient and couldn’t do enough.

This was my 2nd visit here, I came in September with my dad, felt so welcome and safe that I rebooked for my first Solo trip, the staff are all very friendly and welcoming, nothing too much trouble, the hotel is very clean, I had a balcony room over looking the Main Street, great for people watching, the entertainment is what you make of it as with anything, I really enjoyed the entertainment, I danced and got involved, booked full board + but didn’t eat much at the hotel only because I was out all day wanted to see as much as I could so did a lot of day trips, there is lots of choice for all meals even for the fussiest of eaters, I didn’t once feel like a solo traveler thanks to the great staff and guests and always felt safe, there are a lot of bad reviews on here but a holiday is what you make of it, be nice and people will be nice back, have an issue speak to the staff, they will always help if your polite, they work long hard hours and I appreciate that, I didn’t visit the pool or the gym but I met lots of people who did and they enjoyed it, I will definitely be coming back to this hotel, thank you to all the staff

Great location 2 mins from beach. Food pretty good Alcohol was branded gin/bicardi ect Cocktails were dismal Upon arring in the room first thing we saw was a cockroach scurrying along the floor Strong smell of sewage in the room DO NOT STAY IN ROOM 426 on 4th floor or around those areas.. It was a balcony room, BUT they are RENOVATING room above. Constant drilling,banging, basically you will not get any sleep during the day if you need a rest. One morning it started at 8am!!! Complained twice, NOTHING done, no offer of different room ect.. We understand renovations need to be done but INFORM guests BEFORE BOOKING as the noise completely ruined the holiday and is totally unacceptable!!! Picnic/packed lunch was a disgrace. Sandwiches were made with stale mouldy bread. Would i stay again NO!!!! Lack of customer care..

We were a bit concerned reading some of these reviews but the hotel is great! Ok the lifts are slightly small but we just used the stairs (2nd floor room so not too challenging!). We booked a balcony room which I’d really recommend. Meant we could people watch while enjoying a drink. The area outside is a bit busy but it means you literally have everything on your doorstep. You can walk to the beach in one direction or into the Old Town with tapas alley and tapas square nearby. We were all inclusive and although we didn’t eat all our meals in the hotel, what we did have was really good, well cooked and plenty of choice. Bar area is inside and great selection of drinks and entertainment. Staff were all friendly and efficient and we would definitely return (hopefully soon) Thank you Avenida!
