Melia Villaitana

I've organized a Global Distributor Meeting in September 2024, for our Distributors from Latin America, Africa, Europe, and Eastern Europe. I work for a US company based in Waltham, MA and 12 of us went to the meeting to host our International customers. Hotel is beautiful and have many different amenities. Hotel staff is wonderful, service oriented, and very helpful. Everything was well organized from the daily meetings to our Gala event which was in the beautiful Capula Restaurant. Events Services Manager/Sales Executive Sandra Aleman Alvarez and her team were amazing, very helpful and efficient. Highly recommended whether if you are staying for business or leisure. Beautiful resort hotel set in wonderful surroundings, it's like a little paradise. Roo. Was nice and clean, but the resort is huge and it can be quite a walk from the car park or reception to your room. On the downside, we went half board and the food is to be honest, substandard. I suspect the standard in the paid restaurants would be much higher, but the all inclusive offering was simply not good enough. Breakfast: there are plenty of cold choices from cold cut meats, to various breads, cheeses and fruit. However, the hot selection is poor. The bacon was cheap, fatty, cold and like leather. The sausages were cold. The fried eggs or scrambled were ok. Dinner: really poor. Firstly, nothing is hot. Why can they not invest in proper hot plates?? The veg, potatoes and sides were all cold. The steak was really rubbery. No gravy or sauces I could see. No mash or chips, and the veg was half cooked. Of the 5 nights we were there, we ate out 3 of the nights, we simply couldn't face the dinners some nights. You won't look forward to dinner time. It's a pity because the resort is lovely, and that aside you can't fail to be impressed by the setting and surroundings. On balance we would go back again, but skip the food and do our own thing each day, there are thousands of options to eat in nearby Benidorm

I love this place. Been here a few times for both work trips and for personal trips and it never disappoints. It has everything you need and is an easy walk to the golf club to go play golf if you want. I’ve stayed in both standard and The Level rooms and both were fabulous

Very nice hotel to enjoy holidays with the family near Benidorm. Location: 10 minutes from the Benidorm beaches, up in the hills. Great views from the rooms and the hotel of the city and sea. Check-in/check-out: perhaps the lowest point in the hotel. In the Meliá Villaitana there only four desks available, which at peak hours explodes. I spent 15 minutes waiting for check in and 25 minutes on cue for the checkout. There are no Meliá rewards priority desk (yes at Level). Rooms: nice spacious rooms with confortable beds, big bathroom and nice balcony. The pity doesn’t work well (I’ve stayed in two different rooms), and most of the channels and blocked. Some walls need a paint job and the floor needs to be cleaned every day. It seems housekeeping is not equipped with stuff to clean floors. Animation: the best of the hotel, the team of the mini club is amazing. Special thanks to Victor, David and Lucia. Kids really enjoy the activities. Food: we went with full board as the all inclusive is available when booking 6 or 7 nights. It should be available for an extra fee, maybe it is, no one offered it. All the meals where in the buffet with very good selection and quality. Can’t complain really. Special kudos to Alexandra who was so nice in attending us every time. The only thing to complain about is the fact that they are asking our room and names every time, even though we had our bracelets. We’ve been in other Meliá and we never witnessed this, a bit annoying. The restaurant Casa Nostra, which is paid is amazing, great service and great quality food. The Gelateria is algo great, and seems to be free with all inclusive but they never told this. Pools: amazing, lots of space to swing and do activities. Sufficient chairs for everyone in the premises. The kids pool with the slides are great fun. Overall a great stay, with some “American style” customer experience details could get even better.

I have no idea what most reviewers are smoking when reviewing this place. Beware. The Spanish nature of the resort means it is not suitable for non-Spanish speakers. Also, I sure hope you like queuing… It is a Spanish resort - which is great but know if you do not speak Spanish you will be unable to communicate with most staff and all the entertainment is in Spanish. So not ideal for folks who don’t speak that language - wish that had have been much clearer. If queuing was a destination. We paid for all inclusive. Be prepared to line up. Even for a simple beer. The bars are mostly closed and it feels like weaponized incompetence to prevent you consuming the resources you have paid for. At one point, we wanted a drink (we are not heavy drinkers) to watch one of their shows but no bar was open (it was before 10pm) so I had to pretend to sit at a table in a restaurant, order drinks and then sneaked out with them. Genuinely the worst hotel service experience I’ve ever had. On the positive side, the grounds are beautiful and the pools great for kids. Avoid if you don’t speak Spanish and don’t like queuing.

For a 5 star hotel, the conditions are shocking. The place was built in 2006 and it would appear to real maintenance has been done. We were in a Junior Suite spending €1,600 and the furnishes were terrible. No thing to sit and right at. A shelf screwed to the wall. A shabby cabinet with the mini fridge and to hold the television. No bedside cabinets, and tables that were dated and unsuitable for a suite. The table holding the Nespresso machine, totally unsuitable. The only thing about the bedroom area was the decent bed and sofa. The dressing room was shockingly outdated as was the bathroom with the cistern running permanently. The cleaning was totally inadequate. The bath wasn’t used and covered in dust. The bedroom wasn’t dusted properly. The outside terrace wasn’t cleaned and the state of the stonework showing reinforcement rods. In addition with no outside security anyone from outside could walk in through the golf area, up the stairs and access the terrace over the low wall. No consideration has been made to secure this and adjacent terraces. I have stayed in many Meliá properties and would say Benidorm Melia is in a much better state. Better Level lounge and exclusive terrace area, snacks and better service. So in short I would not recommend Melia Villaitana and would certainly not be returning as it is one of my worst experiences of Melia and having staying in many 5 stat and 4 star hotels in the area in Denia, Altea and Benidorm, they are far better. My answer to you would be the hotel needs to close and totally refurbish to live up to 5 star standard.
