Treff Alpenhotel Kronprinz - Berchtesgaden

There is quite a trek uphill to the hotel. The hotel is quiet and has beautiful views. Breakfast is very good and the restaurant, bar has good food and drinks.There is a sauna but not much else, but don't worry, the uphill trek will be enough exercise.

The property is located at very(!) mountainous terrain, it is really tough to get there by foot , and carrying luggage is making it really painful. Note: there is no any Uber-like service in the city (not related to the property itself, just general comment). We got a room in the basement floor and it was a bit cold inside (may). Cleaning is on demand (you have to ask for it at the reception or put a sign on the door. Staff warns you about it in advance). I had some issues with drying my towel as there was no any heater in the room. No issues with hot water, the bed was a bit firm to me but thats okay. Breakfast is okay-ish (typical austrian / german, eggs , bread, butter and some cold cuts, yogurt and juice is also available). Coffee was great. Personnel is very friendly and helpful.

Well, this highly rated hotel didn't really exactly meet our expectations to be fair. And it may be bad luck (for them), but doesn't change what happened. It all started with a 4.5-hour drive which I had to do alone, considering that my wife was very ill. Fair enough, 4,5 hours is not the end of the world, but one does get tired. And upon arrival, it is not clear where I can park the car, so I go down the path to the parking garage, which is very tight, in order to be confronted with a locked gate. No problem, let's give them a call. After the phone ringing for 3 minutes and me honking my horn, nothing. So I assume come backwards out of this tight rounding ramp down. You can imagine the start was already sour. Luckily the receptionist was very nice, although she also gave a recommendation that didn't work out and caused more work for us (that in the restaurant downstairs dogs are allowed and they should have space - of course, they were full). So we 'had to' eat dinner on the ground floor where dogs are not allowed, so we took him back to the room first. And then we arrived with our 2,5-year old son in the restaurant which felt like a retirement home, in the sense that the clientele consisted of dozens of seniors, which is by default, not a problem, but they were mostly the type who didn't appreciate a child happily talking and making children sounds (not even too loud, mind you). So we felt unwelcome, which was further not helped by the weird waiter, who got so upset that he started talking to himself when we patiently and normally informed him that our son is hungry and if the soup or salad that we ordered could be brought earlier... At this point, it is worth mentioning that the food is really delicious... If we would've had space in Zum Fassl (the cellar where dogs are allowed), we probably would've rated it high separately, but this review has to cover both hotel and hotel restaurant. Last, but not least I would mention that we booked a nicer room (based on availability) and compared to that the otherwise nice room had 2 significantly outdated aspects. The toilet flush continued flushing by itself. And the hairdryer was so outdated, it switched off after 20 seconds due to overheating, with both my son and wife having soaking wet hair while being sick. So anyway, look, it is probably normally a 4/5 rating hotel, but based on the circumstances we can't give it more than 3/5.

We spent 5 nights here beginning of January with half board. Everyone is very friendly, great food. We had a menü and it was really good every evening. Huge room with big bath. they have a garage also. In a good location, only a short walk tocity center

Hotel heeft een mooie ligging. Lopend naar t centrum. Wij kregen een dubbele kamer met terras op begane grond. Bedden zijn goed. Restaurant met mooi uitzicht op de berg. Ontbijt en diner goed verzorgd en lekker. Auto mocht in de garage staan. Vriendelijk snel sprekende receptie medewerkster.
