Wilmina

We were initially impressed by the beautifully renovated former women's prison. However, our experience quickly turned negative due to poor customer service. Upon arrival, we were given a room on the 4th floor, which included air conditioning. We were in a hurry for our dinner reservation, but when we tried to take a shower, we realized there was no hot water. We called reception, explaining the urgency, but their first suggestion was to use the public sauna facilities—not a reasonable solution. When we objected, they initially said there was nothing they could do. Only after insisting did someone come to check, confirming what we already knew: there was no hot water. We later learned that the hotel was aware of similar issues in multiple rooms. Eventually, they moved us to a different room with hot water, but it was smaller, had no air conditioning, and had smaller windows. No apologies were made at any point. Before heading to dinner, I requested to speak with the hotel manager regarding compensation. I understand that technical issues happen, but it's the hotel's responsibility to handle them properly. When we returned, the night shift staff admitted that hot water issues had been affecting multiple rooms and that no technician had been called. The next morning, I went to the reception again to speak with the manager, only to be told that no manager was available on Sundays. The receptionists refused to discuss compensation. To make matters worse, as we left, we overheard them laughing about the situation. After a while, one of the staff members came after us and handed us two drink vouchers—too little, too late. We never received any follow-up, no attempt from management to address the issue, and no proper resolution. This was one of the worst customer service experiences we've had. While the architecture is worth seeing, I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel. Visit their bar if you're curious, but don’t stay here.

A wonderful stay - there isn’t a single thing we didn’t love about our stay at the Wilmina. Whilst our cosy room was certainly cosy, it was beautiful with such a comfortable bed: I particularly appreciated the lavender pillow available upon request. The whole hotel has so many lovely spaces to relax and it feels so calm. We enjoyed the delicious breakfasts, the sauna which we had to ourselves, the helpful staff, the readily available fresh fruit and drinks/cake in the afternoons..I could go on.. It has been so thoughtfully renovated and we could happily have stayed there longer.

A space of darkness turned into a space of light: the building's past as a court and a women's prison that was transformed into a hidden green oasis with a unique character. Various elements of the old building were maintained and beautifully blended with a modern, minimalistic and wellness-focused design in warm tones. The rooms are spacious, the bathroom simply huge and the garden views add to the overall feeling of peace and serenity. A lovely touch the board games room with billiard table, while the sauna and outdoor pool were perfect for unwinding. A true Berlin gem, turning its rich history into a delightful and romantic stay.

Its a wonderful hotel and the staff were great! room was really big and comfy breakfast 10/10 and very close to ubahn and a street with many nice restaurants I am already recommending it alot to Icelanders traveling to Berlin and realised I had not done a review so here it finally comes

My partner and I stayed at Hotel Wilmina for two nights for a short 50th birthday break. We absolutely loved this place and rated it in one of the nicest hotels we’ve stayed in. Everything was crisp, immaculate and felt like top quality - from the way this former prison has been renovated to retain interesting features, to the Kartell bathroom, to the super comfortable bed and bedding. The breakfast was lush, the staff were calm and friendly. Would definitely go again and highly recommend. 👍🏻

I was absolutely blown away by the hotel. Expected a good stay, but my expectations were exceeded in every way. Three highlights: The staff was very kind and responsive, particularly Deniz. I loved the lights of the garden at night. The breakfast included an extensive cereal bar with lots of toppings and great yoghurts.
