Hotel Abendstern

I would never book hostel type accommodation, but that’s exactly what we ended up with here. The place was badly misrepresented, being old, quirky and in need of refurbishments. The carpets in the public areas were threadbare in places. Encountering other “guests” in passing, left you with an uneasy feeling. Where “Apartment” comes in, I do not know. We were lead to believe that this accommodation was separate from the hotel, but it was just a room in the hotel, the size of a prison cell. Nothing like the picture on the front of the confirmation email from ***********. The “kitchen” area was a joke, with the electric kettle and microwave powered by dangerous trailing leads that didn’t reach the floor. We were given another room, which although bigger, was totally uncomfortable and lacking facilities. Where were the promised “toiletries”? The wifi did not work. There was constant noise at night from loud voices and doors banging. The receptionist was the rudest person I have ever met, and treated us with contempt as if we were a total nuisance to her. All the pictures on line make the place look lovely, but the reality is nothing like it. After complaining to ***********, we checked out after two of our seven booked nights, on the promise of a refund. Quite the worst accommodation I have ever encountered. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.
