Henry IV would be hugely disappointed if he was to visit this magnificent former hunting lodge today. We caught sight of the fabulous looking hotel restaurant as we were passing through and decided to call in for a drink. It looked open. Glasses and meal settings on the tables outside and inside. It was Early evening Friday. We went in and up to the reception. No one to be found - staff or guests. A member of staff then came out from the shadows to inform us, in a sullen manner, that the fully stocked bar was closed. Such a shame. I do hope the hotel is still up for sale and that the new owners come in and make this the lovely and welcoming hotel restaurant it deserves. A future gem!

Rooms were ok but nothing special. A bit old fashioned but that was the intention. Restaurant seemed quite expensive and didn't have much business. We drove to the Rive Gauche. Not in the town so need a car to get anywhere else. Car park was surprisingly small. Welcome ok.

What a shame! Hotel looks beautiful from the outside. Unfortunately they were CLOSED when we arrived at the 2pm check in time. They simply would not open the hotel until 5pm!!! NOT PROFESSIONAL AT ALL. Especially since there is nothing and nowhere To go in this area and it was pouring rain.

The building is wonderful , the rooms and bathrooms need a bit of TLC , but clean quiet and everything you need. Lights could do with higher wattage,and the curtain is as useful as a chocolate teapot for keeping the light out. The food was great as was the service but book a table , it was very busy ( 6th April ) Sadly it is a long walk to the town of Bessines and ( as far as I could see ) along a main road. Good place for a stopover as close to the A20 motorway .

Situé à l’écart des grands axes, mais non isolé, cet hôtel restaurant vaut très largement le déplacement. Tout d’abord le cadre bucolique, la bâtisse… un authentique manoir, uns salle de restaurant avec une cheminée monumentale qui distille sa chaleur à profusion et qui permet de se restaurer avec une carte de qualité. Le tout avec un accueil chaleureux.
