Trikora Beach Club and Resort

This is a beautiful resort on a beautiful beach but there are a couple of things that take away from it being perfect. We booked Bintan island on a bit of a whim and could’ve probably saved ourselves a small amount of upset by doing a tiny bit of research so I can’t really blame the resort for this but the property is very isolated. There is basically nowhere in the immediate vicinity to go for food , drinks or basically anything. Which would be appealing to us had we have packed better. The bigger issue, and the reason for taking off a star, is there is only one swimming pool. Now, this wouldn’t normally be an issue except later on the first day multiple families turned up and our peaceful getaway was turned into a waterpark for small children. Really changed the whole vibe. In saying this, the staff were wonderful and the food was unbelievably good. Even for SE Asian standards where food is pretty much always on point. It was one of those places where if in a similar location in Bali it would’ve been AUD$600 per night as opposed to $200, so good value for money.

The location itself is nice, close to the beach and peaceful but premises are old, dirty and poorly maintained - the rooms are very basic, beds are not comfortable and feel dirty. The bathrooms are old and dirty -the shower head, wooden boards came apart. There are very few facilities and options for entertainment - there is only 1 restaurant with limited menu (many options were not available and not many options for vegetarians) and no buffet breakfast. The pools were cleaned only after we complained. Very poor customer service as the staff either did not understand English or were unwilling to accomodate requests and it was hard to find any staff around. It's not well lit at night and there's no entertainment for children apart from the beach and pool. The reception staff informed us there were life vests for children but there was noone at the "sports centre" and they did not have any small size life vests for kids.Given that therre were very few guests at the resort that weekend, the service could have been a lot better to take care of the few of us who were there. We had to keep complaining before anything was done. The kitchen staff were friendly and helpful but there was no other customer service provided through our stay. The photos and reviews do not accurately reflect how the premises are. The beach is beautiful but the rooms are not comfortable, and you can hear traffic from the main road. Do not recommend for families with kids as it is really boring. The pictures and reviews on trip advisor do not accurately reflect the state of the premises.

We had a fabulous time here - bare feet for four days. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The staff were fantastic, and went out of their way to assist. The restaurant staff were simply brilliant! Always at your service, smiling, happy and served you with grace. Thank you guys. The pool! We spent many hours there - simply wonderful! Rooms10/10. A very nice resort that has beautifully clean grounds, well cared for rooms and a nice beach. We spent nearly a week at Tikora Beach and loved every minute. The staff are incredible and very friendly. The food at the restaurant is exceptional with the Indonesia cuisine the highlight. The beach is clean and the water was clear and warm (July). There is not a lot directly around the resort however we did borrow the bikes and went right out of the resort. About 1km on the left u will find a convenience store. A further 500m you will find a hairdresser on the right. The reception were happy to organise a car and driver for us from the ferry terminal. We were also able to hire the same car and driver for a 6hr tour of the islands main attractions. Would definitely recommend staying here for a relaxing break. Special mention to Agung who went out of his way to make sure we were content.

Our family had a fantastic trip! The resort is so beautiful — rustic nature, lush greenery, immaculate beach and waters, very tranquil, warm service with comfortable amenities (spacious clean comfy villas with ACs and flatscreen TV). A great retreat to fully unplug from the world and electronics, for young and old. P.s. if you are looking for buffets, full resort programmes, and lots of activities, this is not the place for you :)

The resort is unpretentious but beautiful. Every item in the resort from signs, tables, chairs and the villas were crafted by local tradesmen by hand using native wood fashioned in Riau style. The villas were nicely spread out around a lovely open stretch of grass that looks out into the turquoise sea. The place is peaceful and breezy, with a few cabanas perched on the edge looking over the water. Snorkeling is literally at its doorstep, with some corals and small fishes. For deeper dives, swim out a further hundred meters to the trenches, where water is vibrant, corals are teemed with live and color. It's rare to see marine life these days and I hope the resort will try to regenerate marine life in the shallower areas. Some locals were collecting live shells to sell. It would be nice to see greater protection of the reef from both locals and tourists. I was told turtles lay their eggs on the Trikora beach every year. Again, such sights are rare these days, and the turtles need to be treasured and protected.
