Very clean, friendly staff, but the beds were the firmest I’ve ever tried to sleep on. Very uncomfortable. We had 3 in the room and the pullout couch was actually unique flip function and had no mattress. Extremely hard and uncomfortable. This was my first stay at a TownePlace line hotel, so I was unaware of the hard beds in this line. Won’t be staying at one again.

We love staying at the Towneplace Suites chain because the rooms are so much more spacious than other hotels we stay at. We felt this location was in a safe area, the front desk staff were friendly, and we had no issues with our room. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the Birmingham area.

I wasn’t expecting much but this hotel was a lovely little surprise. Everyone at the front desk was warm and welcoming. As a Bonvoy member they set me up in a large corner room, which was clean, modern and comfortable. I understand it’s a recently renovated hotel and that was definitely obvious. Housekeeping was prompt and thorough. The cleaning staff seemed to be right on top of mopping floors and tidying up the lobby. The complimentary breakfast was terrific. I used the fitness center a few times and it was clean and well stocked with towels and new machinery. I also loved that they had hydration stations all over to refill water bottles and a spacious laundry room. The other plus was that there was plenty of parking and the area surrounding the hotel seemed safe with plenty of food and grocery shopping options. Thanks for a great stay!

The room was very clean and staff very friendly. However, the breakfast was late getting out and not a lot to choose from. Coffee was constantly empty. We felt so sorry for the one worker that was busting her ass getting things set up for breakfast. Do better Marriott, hire more help!

Things I liked about our stay 1. Location. Very quiet, safe; with plenty of parking. I cannot overstate how much we liked the location. On our way to Charlotte, we'd stayed at a Fairfield in Oxford, AL which did not have adequate parking. So, I don't take this for granted. 2. The building itself looked well managed and clean 3. The desk agent was gracious, acknowledged my Bonvoy status (as is the process, but sometimes not executed), offered us water 4. The room was on the highest floor as requested in my profile 5. The breakfast area was spacious, and the food choices were more than adequate Well done!

I stayed in the hotel two nights. The room I reserved was the only one available, a queen bed suite. When I arrived I saw scaffolds on a part of the hotel. Apparently, it is going renovations. The influence on me was that I think I smelled dust in the room I stayed in for the first night. That room, had the scaffolds in the window. The reception told me that they start working at 8 AM, but that they are now focusing on the other side of the hotel. The room itself was small with a very small bathroom. There was just one table to eat and as a desk. The main problem was the toilet. It leaked on the floor. The seal of toilet was not good. I returned to the receptionist and told her that. She came to see. She saw the leak and brought towels for the floor. It actually made things better and I was able to use the toilet and shower later. I requested to replace the room the following day and she agreed. The following day, I got an upgrade to my request (no pay) to a double queen suite. That room was good. It was larger and I finally had room to open my suitcases. I did the laundry on the first night and I was able to repack my suitcase after it. To sum up. The service was good. I got response to my request to change and upgrade the room (with no extra charge). I used the free guest self laundry service, and it was very good too. The low rating cannot be avoided because of the room I had on the first night. Given the state if the room, it certainly shouldn't have been made available to guests. The fact that the hotel is under renovations is not mentioned in the web site, and I think the size of the room is not mentioned either. I am not sure there are photos of the rooms either, Had I known the size of the room and that the hotel is under renovation, I would have probably picked the holiday inn next to this hotel.
