The Hostel California

This lodging was great and is about the only affordable place in Bishop! The hostel includes private rooms or shared dorms. I stayed in a shared, mixed dorm and it was perfect. The rooms are large and there is plenty of room along with locker space and good heating. The rooms and linens are clean and the staff couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. The dorms are in a separate building so it is quieter than an regular hostel where most things are in the same building! Shared space includes a lovely yard, living room, dining room and very clean kitchen. Tea and coffee are complimentary and there is a fleet of free bikes available for daily use. I stayed two nights and would't hesitate to stay again if in the area.

I stayed one night in a “private “ room in this hostel. It looks nicely set up, but my room wasn’t cleaned after the last occupant, the floor was dirty and there was rubbish on the table. The shared toilet had pooh sprayed all over. The shower floor mat was very dirty. When I complained, the guy said that he couldn’t manage and clean everything because he was the only staff member there. I left the next day and have found since that I picked up bed bugs from there. I was hiking before so didn’t stay anywhere else and now I’m covered in bites...

I stayed in the dormitory. Clean bedding was provided and there was access to shared lounge, dining room and kitchen. This was very good value. The staff were very very friendly and even shared their evening meal when they cooked more than they needed. Location is very convenient for downtown Bishop.

A relaxing, sociable and comfortable place with a welcoming caring host and friendly staff. Beds were clean and cozy and garden area great for peace and quiet. Lovely historical house which is loved and cared for. Great for hikers and climbers to unwind or plan next adventure. Centre of small town which is packed with all facilities plus laundrey nearby. Would stay here again.

Ma che sorpresa essere accolti ad un italiano a Bishop! Angelo è un personaggio, una sagoma! Ci ha accolto col calore dei meridionali con la simpatia di un vecchio amico e ci ha fatto sentire davvero a casa nostra! Abbiamo lasciato l'ostello (con le sue caratteristiche) con un ricordo che a San Francisco ha raccolto numerosi complimenti. Guardate le nostre magliette!!!

Adorable maisonnette pour Climbers. nous avions réservé une chambre pour 3 : elle était très petite, sous les toits et sans grand confort, la clim faisait beaucoup de bruit, heureusement elle semble d'éteindre toute seule la nuit. L'accueil était sympathique et la cuisine commune très pratique. Beaucoup d'échanges possibles avec les "clients". Ambiance auberge de jeunesse plus que hôtel. Cette étape nous a amusés. Mais cela dépend de ce que l'on cherche...
