Fairfield Inn & Suites Bismarck South

This hotel is in bad need of maintenance and cleaning. The attached pictures show: shampoo/soap dispensers ripped off the shower wall (one was on the floor of the tub not sure about 3rd), a toilet seat that wasn't attached (sitting on it, was like sledding without the fun), Lobby was tired, with chipped furniture and fussy additions (may have looked like stock photos 10 years ago but not now), and finally a very very dirty hall carpet. Marriott didn't care that this hotel is misrepresented on their reservation site. Communication with them was challenging and odd, for a Hospitality business. This experience tells me I should not blindly make reservations on Marriott's site, without checking external reviews.

This is a very nice hotel by the airport. I am writing this review because Chante, the front desk attendant, was the nicest, most professional person I have encountered in ages. She was efficient, had made a welcome bag with a note for us and was so very pleasant. Thank you for making me feel appreciated. My room was great, with a nice little sitting area in the Executive King, and my mom's regular room was great too.

I was there for as short a time as possible, by the time I was finally checked in and was able to walk past all the patched holes in the walls etc I had a stay booked at a courtyard just 3 miles down the road. Run, don't walk away from this hotel. Did not feel safe one bit. I paid for two hotels that night but I got my peace of mind back.

Front desk was busy talking to friends when I first came in. The room smelled heavily of body odor. There were no towels, so I had to dry with a wash rag. I was woken up at noon on the dot and told I needed to check out; I’d requested late check out for 2PM on the app. When I got back to sleep, I was woken up at 12:30 with someone calling to say I needed to leave. I told them I’d requested late check out on the app and she told me “they don’t use the app”. Overall pretty gross hotel, but it’s a gross city with limited options, and it seemed safe at least. Lots of folks smoking cigarettes outside but no one seemed sketchy.

This isn't the newest hotel but that wasn't a big deal. The cleanliness was horrible. There was food left in the fridge in the room, one of the beds appeared to be slept in and not changed, and hair all over the shower. There was welcome food in the reception area for a college basketball team - it was set out when we arrived at 6pm and was still sitting there at 8am the next morning when we left. It was meat and cheese trays. Staff was friendly and helpful. Choose another hotel.

I stayed just one night on my journey from Minnesota to Montana. The bed and room were comfortable but the squealing fan in the air conditioning unit was very irritating, so I slept with the unit turned off. A maintenance person was going to look at it while I stepped out to dinner: the door to my room was ajar when I returned, so I am sure they were there. However, the fan still squealed. Breakfast was pretty typical: scrambled eggs, sausages, make-your-own-waffle, cold cereals, milk, juice, yoghurt, etc. The place is in a good location for traveling: convenient to re-enter I-94 W in the morning, lots of restaurants in the area, and shopping for things needed for the journey.

Stayed here two nights during a recent sightseeing trip in North Dakota. The room and amenities are standard for a Fairfield Inn, and the hotel is conveniently located to restaurants, gas stations, and any other amenities travelers may need. The room was clean and laid out well. What really made the stay stand out, however, was the service, particularly Tori. She ensured we had sufficient towels for the duration of our stay, checked up on us to make sure the room was acceptable and to our liking, and even volunteered to take us to the airport when we were having difficulty getting a Lyft early in the morning. (We ultimately did get a Lyft, but the offer was appreciated.) She really went above and beyond in ensuring we had a comfortable stay. The other employees we encountered were also very nice and friendly, and the overall atmosphere was very welcoming. We had a great stay and would certainly stay there again if we happen to be in the area.

The staff was exceptional. They recommended restaurants and answered our questions. The pool was clean and refreshing. Beds left a bit to be desired, but the rooms were clean. Breakfast was the normal complimentary breakfast. Downside was the noise, inside and out. We could hear people in the halls and road noise from outside.

I stayed at this hotel for one night on July 28th. The gentleman who was at the front desk until 11pm was so friendly and kind. He offered us waters upon arrival and cookies (oh my those cookies hit the spot). The hotel was off the interstate a fair bit - didn’t quite realize when booking but close to a lot of amenities. There was a pool and gym (with cardio equipment only). The breakfast was small but good. It offered cereals, coffees, teas, yogurt, assorted breads and pastries, fruit, sausages and eggs, etc. The room was clean. The room however lacked soap - bars of soap. Either way it was good for a night stay.
