Vrooman Mansion B&B

I've been there twice - once in 2022 and once in 2024. On our first visit, we arrived at 5:30 PM and were greeted immediately at the door. The gentleman who met us (Brian), gave us a full tour of the historic house and grounds - and even played the piano for us! We enjoyed snacks and drinks right outside our room. We sat out on the covered porch on the side of the house and enjoyed the setting sun. In the morning, we were treated to a gourmet breakfast. We stayed in the Carl Vrooman suite; had 3 rooms. One was "standard", with a comfortable bed, the second was a sitting room with Carl's desk and a couch; then a separate bath with clawfoot tub. Everything was very "period". It was quiet, clean, and easy access to restaurants in Bloomington. We bounced a dinner idea off Brian and he heartily agreed - and it was great! Left at 9:00 the next morning, refreshed and happy. On our second visit - we tried the Rose Suite - and stayed for 2 nights. This had 2 rooms - a bedroom and separate bathroom with a clawfoot tub as well. It was quiet. We went mid-week and there was only one other couple there. Explored their library and sat in the sitting area by the fireplace by the front door. Highly recommend.

SO pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem in the heart of Bloomington. I booked an overnight here in their Carriage House- Charlevoix Suite for my husband’s Birthday and it was just the present I wanted to give him. The suite had the most beautiful decor and luxurious ambiance. The copper claw foot tube being one of my personal favorites. The bed was very comfortable and the thoughtfulness of the amenities was definitely noticed. Pam and her staff were so welcoming. They prepared a delicious birthday cake for my husband and had it in the kitchen when we arrived to the carriage house. They also had some appetizers and a marvelous charcuterie board for us. Pam also went out of the way to make sure that my husband had his Mt Dew Baja Blast and chocolate milk. We had a wonderful stay and then breakfast the next morning was definitely the icing on the cake. We walked over through the amazingly landscaped grounds to the mansion in the morning to be served THE most tasty breakfast I’ve had in a long time. The sweet potato and sausage frittata was so savory and fitting for the first day of fall. However, the peaches n’ cream stuffed French toast was a MUST HAVE, will think about later, dish. 10/10 recommend staying here ESPECIALLY if you’re local like us. What an amazing experience that we’ll always remember. We can’t wait to go back and visit. We hear that Christmas time is extraordinarily magical!

To stay in a mansion and live the history was a joy. The home was spectacularly beautiful! To be able to sit on the furniture and touch every artifact was an exhilarating, surreal experience! The bedroom was comfortable, calming & relaxing. The staff felt like family and accommodated us and our every need. Breakfast was a culinary delight!

We had a wonderful weekend trip at the Vrooman Mansion. The room, the food, the immaculately kept Mansion and grounds and the welcoming, friendly and accommodating hosts made our stay perfect. We loved learning about the history of the house and we will definitely be back!

Vrooman Mansion has so much historical charm! The antique decor and furniture were beautiful, and the owners were lovely and gave us an awesome tour of the house. Our room was quiet and the bed was really comfortable. Came with lots of complimentary snacks/treats and toiletries. Breakfast was my favorite part of the entire experience! Had a delicious quiche and baked pear. Great way to celebrate an anniversary weekend.

My daughter and I stayed the evening after a concert at the Castle Theatre. The entire mansion is so unique and the history is evident throughout. Our room, Master’s Chamber, was very comfortable with a private bathroom. The breakfast was excellent, ranking in the top two or three restaurant breakfasts I’ve had. I would recommend staying at the Vrooman Mansion to anyone.
