Green Park Inn

Truly unpleasant arrival experience. Front desk young woman said “you can’t check in until 4pm.” No offer of any suggestions of storing our bags or how to kill a few hours. When we came back there was a delightful local bluegrass band on the front veranda which we certainly would have wanted to enjoy but they were just finishing—again, front desk gave no mention of this charming event. Sign in elevator noted it was often out of order and people were cautioned they might get stuck. Sign in room admonished “unplug lamps and all electrical appliances when leaving room.” Room floorboards creaked, bed not comfortable. Had to ‘reserve’ for breakfast even with very few guests in hotel. We did but then as we couldn’t wait to leave, asked if we could get breakfast early. Front desk said ‘probably not but you can ask in the dining room’. Dining room hostess and server were welcoming and I applaud their hospitality, the only sense of hospitality we found at Green Park Inn.

After taken several phone calls from the staff at this hotel. I had to come down and present my Driver's license because I was in the Fe my program because at the time I have nowhere to stay and no utilities or water or even food. So I drove an over an hour away to get here for them to tell me the very first time. That it was first come first serve, not either time. Did they tell me that on the phone? The 2 times I spoke with them but when I get down here and tell the lady that I drove over an hour to get a year and I have to drive back now and figure out what to do with my family. She gives me $10 for gas. That was an insult. So with that being said, I don't recommend this hotel to anyone first of all, the customer service was not very good. The training of the staff is not good. The cleanliness of the hotel. I know it's old and it was built-in 1891.But nothing has been upgraded at all.I even tried to repair.I used a restroom when I was there and it stinks really bad in the hotel?So I don't even want to stay here anymore.And if I had a chance to come back down even if someone gave me a free night I would not even use it.

We had a wonderful stay at this very interesting historic hotel. The area was scenic and close enough to blowing rock and historic districts far enough away to feel safe and out of the hustle and bustle the staff here is wonderful will return.

Needs a major overhaul. From top to bottom. Staff were friendly. The floor they put us on, we never seen or heard another person. I think we were the only ones on that floor. The room. The bed and fixtures were old. Not collectible, just old. Room looked like it hadn’t been updated since the 1990’s. Probably would not stay here again

We heard about the Sunday Jazz Brunch and decided to give it a try. What a huge disappointment! The food was terrible, the service was worse. The price point for the food and the included Mimosa or Bloody Mary was attractive. Unfortunately, a lower price for poor food is not the way to success. Lowering standards is definitely NOT the way to go. What a disappointing experience.

Nice hotel, in its day. Friendly staff. Room dark and aged. Overhead light associated with the fan not functional due to broken chain. Left the water running 15 minutes and never got hot, so had to take a cool shower. They offered to switch rooms but we were already unpacked and ready for bed. Still not hot in the morning. Perhaps we had bad luck, but with the numerous other lodging options in Blowing Rock, I would choose another.
