Four Seasons Hotel Casa Medina Bogota

Brunch was in a lovely space but it was overpriced (even for a Four Seasons) and underwhelming - limited selection, frequently out of dishes, and the service was poor - multiple requests for coffee and water (in Spanish) had little effect. Better options abound nearby.

Well appointed and nicely decorated building the the Gourmet quarter, very professional staff who has been very helpful throughout with advice and arrangements. Rooms are nice and spacious. Interiors have a nice historical character, breakfast and restaurant are really nice with a semi open patio

Expectations always run high when it concerns a stay at a Four Seasons hotel, but this property disappoints in multiple respects: 1. the property was built as a private residence in what was an extraordinary mansion-filled street, but most of those homes are gone, and the street is no longer all that nice, even though it is near a lot of good restaurants. 2. Because the property required reworking to make it into a hotel, there are steps everywhere, and they can be treacherous because they are all rather dark wood. 3. The staff tried to help us make tour reservations, but they were not all that competent; and all the tours they arranged were *very* expensive. Much better to book directly with Viator, in our personal experience after doing it each way twice this week. 4. The rooms are fine but nothing special. Compared to the hotel in Cartagena where we stayed right before flying to Bogota, the FS rooms are little better than average other than the bathrooms which are very nicely appointed albeit with only one sink. 5. Because it is on a busy street, there is a lot of street noise that repeatedly woke us at night. That said, the bed, pillows and linens were excellent. Lunch in the bar was good - we had multiple courses of local specialties and the service was top notch. I particularly like Hanz, an energetic young bartender. And some of the best restaurants in Bogota are within a mile of the property.

Pedro at reception. Hernan and Marcos for taking care of the fireplace, Natalia for the talks about the delicious Colombian fruits and breads. Hans for the tasty cocktails, Nicolas and Nicolas, Juan Diego at the restaurant, Fabio for driving us around. Four seasons has 2 properties in Bogota. The landmark building was built in 1946. The decor, Art, furnishings give a cosy feeling of a home set in the mountains and you want to curl up and stay for a little while. I booked a Grand Premier Room through my Amex Platinum Fine Hotels+Hotels benefits which include: room upgrade when available, 12pm check-in, daily breakfast for 2, WiFi, late check out, $150 spa services credit. The hotel recognized all but the room upgrade. The room I booked was beautiful. With a fireplace which the hotel will light for you upon request. Large tool with a beauty seating are, wood floors, huge closets, and of course the Four Seasons bed and bedding. The kind you don’t want to get of on the morning. The only downside was the TEENY TINY bathroom! 2 people sharing is impossible as only 1 person barely fits at a time. Great water pressure in the very dark shower, and great products, but, uncomfortable bathroom with a window to the building next door. The room had no view either. An upgrade of same room with an actual view would have been wonderful and maybe a bathroom larger than a box. With zero counter space, which all women need. Maybe a shelf or cart of some sort would be good so as not to have everything falling in the sink because there’s no room on the bathroom counter. Toiletry amenities were standard for Four Seasons and expected. Turn down service was average nothing special. When it’s is exceptional, the housekeeping staff tidies up the room and your toiletries have a linen placed underneath and cords get rolled up, sometimes a eye glasses cleaner under your glasses or a jewelry pouch under jewelry. Little touches that say this is Four Seasons service and you are special. None this happened so it was average. Room was dark anyway for lack of view so not a difficult task to close drapes and turn down the bed. Breakfast buffet was incredible! The speakeasy in the basement had the best cocktails and ambience and I preferred hanging there. The courtyard with afire going was a great place to work and have a glass of wine or coffee. I enjoyed the spa and the staff in the spa. Enjoyed the area and coziness of hotel and staff. Would have enjoyed an actual upgrade and a larger bathroom but I will stay here again.

We had an amazing experience at Casa Medina. So far our best experience at a hotel. The building is spotless and well maintained. The rooms are cleaned twice a day ! The costumer service is superb. All the personnel are friendly and always ready to go beyond expectations . The food was fresh and delicious with a great variety of choices . The hotel amenities like the spa and bar are excellent with professional and experienced staff . We are looking forward to returning soon to have another unforgettable vacation.
