Goldenstern Townhouse

Impressed with hotel decoration and central old town location. 10mins walking distance to train station. Glad that staff offered to deliver luggage to the room as I won’t be able to manage carry luggage up the stairs. The lift only goes up to level 1. Continental breakfast is adequate. During the three nights stay, the breakfast was served with the pretty much the same food, not much variation and no hot food other than hard boiled eggs. The room was clean but lack of amenities such as hair conditioner and toiletry kits. Small vanity in the bathroom, lack of bench top space. Being a female traveller, I feel pretty safe walking around the neighbourhood at the night time.

A very sleek, modern and minimalist B&B in a pretty mountain town. We loved having a little terrace just outside of the bedroom. Our apartment had a small kitchen with a full size dishwasher but no fridge only a wine cooler, we found that odd. Also there were no real toiletries that you would expect from a 4* hotel. Breakfast was very good. However, if you have any mobility issues or just don't want to clim three flights of stairs each time you return then this hotel is not for you. The other main issue is that there is no reception after 6.00pm so if you arrive after that time you will have no help in getting your luggage up three flights of stairs.

We loved our stay here. The hotel is beautifully restored and although quite minimalistic very comfortable. The room was beautiful and very quiet so very good for a good nights sleep. The breakfast was served in the attractive dining room, the staff were friendly it was altogether a fabulous experience

Stayed here for several nights in the beginning of December 2022. We are so happy that we found this hotel and were able to book our rooms there. The hotel itself is historic and beautiful. It is comprised of two conjoined houses dating back many hundreds of years. The Rizzoli family who owns the hotel had it painstakingly restored and beautifully appointed. The famous Casanova resided in one of these buildings for a time when he had to escape Venice. The hotel is in the heart of the old center in the middle of all of the shops and restaurants. However it is not just the hotel building that makes this a "must stay" when visiting Bolzano. The staff are among the friendliest, helpful, interesting and professional we have ever encountered in our many years of travel. We simply cannot say enough good things about how welcome they made us feel and how helpful they were in recommending things for us to see, do and eat!... And are also quite knowledgeable about the history of the the building and Bolzano and the South Tyrol in general. We are particularly grateful to Manuela who made our visit so wonderful and memorable. She is a fine ambassador for not only this hotel but also for the whole South Tyrol region. We are also thankful to the other terrific staff who we've met including Delila. This is a beautiful hotel with outstanding and wonderful staff! We give it our highest recommendation and have every intention of returning in the not too distant future! Bolzano is wonderful and this hotel is a gem!

We spent a wonderful night at this hotel before heading up to Selva Gardena. The rooms are well styled, quiet and a good size (extremely relaxing). Staff are friendly and attentive, and provided some good ideas on exploring this really interesting town. The breakfast was very good. I hope you enjoy as much as we did in staying in Bolzano.

Goldenstern Townhouses are a rustic work of art and in arguably the best and coolest location in Bolzano. The two bedroom apartment we had was perfect for our family . Not for people who cannot navigate stairs as there is no lift. Every passage way, wall, flight of stairs, etc was a walk through history, literally. Between the ‘lobby’ area and the small breakfast restaurant , you literally have to walk through a 12th-24th C ‘scriptotorium’ with ancient frescos and paintings on the walls. It’s in a very discreet location and located above a number of very high end shops. Staff were helpful, friendly but not overly solicitous which we appreciate. Anyone who doesn’t want or need a traditional hotel , and those with no mobility issues should seriously consider Goldenstern. One of the top 10 ‘coolest’ boutique hotels I’ve stayed in terms of character and style and I’ve been fortunate to stay in quite a few all over the world, mostly Asia, Europe and The Americas. Would love to return ! !
