Boorowa Hotel

Turned off the highway to stay at this old pub as it was listed as dog friendly. Had a bit of confusion as I booked through a booking platform, but that was very graciously cleared up by the owner- the lesson is to book direct with the pub. My dog and I had a lovely stay and a great brekkie at the cafe downstairs. A quirky little slice of Australian history and well worth the detour.

The publican was very welcoming and was not short on stories. The food in the restaurant was very good and plenty of it. This is a real country pub with a lot of atmosphere, including money being stapled to the roof, for charity. They even put my rum and coke in a large cocktail glass with a straw.

Booked directly with Premises some weeks ago. Advised we would have room 8 veranda facing next to amenities. Arrived to book in around 5pm advised room 8 not available, shown room 11 double bed against the wall base of bed nearly on the floor. We are in our late 60's. Beds in the rooms are old dilapidated. Doors to other rooms left open unoccupied. We decided not to stay Mike the publican, when approached said see what I can do for you, all of a sudden room 8 available so obviously lied to. Once we looked at room 8 appears bed had clean linin straight out of washing machine crumpled, room very grubby cobwebs free so was thick fluff, old carpet, pillows stained. The toilet and shower next to room 8 urine smell so strong in toilet I gaged. Shower disgusting. There were 3 toilets 4 showers for say 20 rooms. Three Steep staircases with thread bare carpet, amenities area free for all at brekky, no tables set out upstairs where brekky items are left. No TV in rooms no tea or coffee in rooms. Reflects the price. The meal was eatable just in dining room. Young teenage girls seem to be waitresses meals did not come out together. We left at 7.30pm said to publican we were not staying who made excuses about the age of building. Not good enough the place was grubby unkept not clean I felt so sorry for young couples staying with small babies. Our day at Young cherry festival the best day. 2 hours at Boorowa Hotel just depressing. Not sure what the owner is doing with this Hotel but its sure run down. It was a rabbit warren upstairs not even sure if a fire exist sign was in place. Someone in authority needs to take a good look at these premises.

Relaxed and welcoming. Wonderful Irish atmosphere and friendly staff. The Guinness was smooth and hard to resist. I would recommend a visit to anyone who enjoys a bit of Irish cheer and likes a bit of Irish music.

This pub was fantastic, it had so much character. The publican mike is friendly. It’s just a great place for a pint or 3, thanks good service and great venue. Unfortunately didn’t eat so can’t comment, but will say the bathroom / mirrors are lovely

Great pub with a good atmosphere and lots of character. Along with that Mike the publican makes you feel welcome, which is great in a small country town. I stopped with a friend for drinks and I would go back again. Definitely one of the better pubs in town
