Gite Tarist

We visited Ghardia this January 2025 and stayed at the Gite Tarist. The site and the services provided by the owner Slimane and his family surpassed our expectations, the rooms were clean and confortable, the quality of the food was excellent. Excellent value for the money. Highly recommended.

A well kept hotel inside a palm grove where we felt right at home. The food is delicious and the host takes a great care of the guests. The hotel provides guided tours of the oasis. It’s an ideal place to combine relaxing time by the pool and sightseeing in the neighbouring villages.

One of the best places to live while on our one-month extensive car tour through Algeria! As a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids, 8 and 12 years old), Gite Tarist proved to be the most comfortable choice for all of us. Kids appreciated a lot the pool, Omar's food, and the natural environment with plants and animals, while we valued the tranquility of all the experience and also our host's delicate attention to all our different needs. M'zab Valley is an extraordinary place and our hosts helped us understand it better. We can't wait to get back to the Algerian desert! Thank you, Slimane and Omar!

Wonderful spot in a palmgrove. Nice people, fresh dates everywhere, good service and a natural swimming pool to top it off. Highly recommended. As is Ghardaia, by the way. We've had a good time. Thank you very much!

I went there with my mum and we happened to meet a group of Spanish tourists, it was truly memorable. Gite Tarist is an authentic, spacious and welcoming space; the ensuite room was big yet cosy. Bathroom had all amenities. There's even a pool that you can use anytime. The food they served was excellent; they cooked fresh and traditional meals with camel meat for the meat eaters. They made vegetarian versions for me which was so nice of them. Slimane and his brother went the extra mile to make the best of our trip: visit of the old towns, visit of the soul, trip on the dunes and tea on the spot with sunset lights. I would recommend Gite le Tarist whether you are alone, as a couple or with a large group, you will enjoy every moment with the best trips, guides and nice people.

Au coeur de la palmeraie, nous avons passé un court séjour au gîte Tarist. Parfait pour se ressourcer. Le gîte propose des chambres confortables à l'architecture typique et originale. L'espace salon recouvert intégralement de tapis de la région nous a plongé dans un décor de cinéma. Nous avons été conquis par la qualité et générosité des dîners. Les dattes et les oranges sont à tomber par terre. Le petit déjeuner est quant à lui très basique. Quelques fruits frais par exemple n'auraient pas été de trop. C'est donc un lieu parfait pour faire la sieste ou profiter de la piscine d'eau douce extraite des nappes et régulièrement renouvelée pour arroser les palmiers : aucun produit chimique ! Un système simple mais ingénieux. Excentré, le gîte nécessite une voiture pour tout déplacement mais cela ne nous a absolument posé aucun problème. Nous avions fait confiance à Slimane et Omar pour le programme. Hamoud, notre chauffeur à la patience infaillible, a su parfaitement s'adapter à notre rythme. Pas à la portée de toutes les bourses mais pour profiter d'un environnement spécifique, il faut des moyens spécifiques ce que Omar et Slimane ont parfaitement su relever. Pour finir, nous avons eu la chance de visiter Beni Isguen avec Bachir, un guide remarquable et exceptionnel. Ma concentration a été mise à l'épreuve mais quel plaisir!
