Hotel Piatra Mare

I had a very pleasant stay. I was happy to note that the appearance of the rooms has improved significantly. They were clean, the bed comfortable and the staff friendly and attentive. We enjoyed a beautiful view from the room and the huge pool. The breakfast was tasty and varied.

Great hotel! Clean and comfortable rooms, amazing mountain view, large swimming-pool and great sauna facilities, good restaurant and excellent location! I highly recommended! We had the perfect combination of comfort, amenities, and natural beauty.

Awful experience starting from the first day. 1. We had to carry luggage by ourselves. All we heard is “Sorry, we don’t have enough stuff”. 2. Old rooms like straight from 1990: old tv with tv cable (not Ethernet, not smart tv, real tv cable from antenna), fridge that is not freezing, bathroom is dirty. 3. They will change bed only if you remove bed sheets to the floor. 4. Dogs in hotel barking at 23:30 for several nights. 5. No laundry. You can’t wash clothes. 6. Restaurant has ridiculous working time. Breakfast is ok, but very limited. 7. Slow unstable internet. And finally prices are too high for service provided. Not recommended. Definitely not 4stars.

It is an ok hotel for 2-3 days of accommodation in Poiana Brașov. We chose this hotel by reading the reviews on booking. The room is clean, you have towels at your discretion, there is also a small fridge where you can keep something cold, there is no mini-bar instead, if you want to have a juice, a water, you can order from the bar next to the reception . I had a room with a balcony and a mountain view, where there was a small table and a chair, where you could sit and drink your coffee in the morning. I've seen reviews about the bathroom, like the door doesn't close, the tiles should be changed, the toilet bowl is dripping...in my view these are minor things that bother to some extent, but really the rooms need a small renovation. In the bathroom, the only thing more "unpleasant" was the fact that there was moisture on the ceiling due to the leak from the upper room. There is hair dryer, shower gel/shampoo/soap, slippers, bathrobe as in any 4 star hotel. The only downside of our vacation was the fact that we had no heat. I asked at the reception if the heat could be turned on, I was told that the heating plant had not started yet and that in this case they could offer us an air heater. I said ok, at least I didn't freeze from the cold and it was enough for the days spent there. The food at the restaurant is very good, but the prices are quite high, to be honest, the breakfast was at your discretion, there is actually everything for everyone, Swedish buffet type, tomatoes, omelette, cereal with milk, white/black bread, milk , coffee, yogurts, etc. What we liked the most here was the fact that we had the spa area which elevates this hotel in my opinion. The pool is heated, there is a wet/dry sauna, saline, solar. There is no one serving at the pool bar, but you can take something from the bar and leave it with the barman. All in all, it was ok, worth coming to relax a bit. I forgot to say that if you want, you can request a massage which is for a fee and I really recommend it!

If you want just ...eat-sleep-sport-repeat... this huge hotel machine is OK to you. But here you'll suffer hunger and thirst! No buttle water in rooms (4 stars???), restaurant hazardous. Don't await here cosy romantic atmosphere! Dead, giant granite spaces. Service stuff do the best, but it not helps. Missing night club, dancing, fireplace or nice dinning... Rooms ok. Old fashion stylish comfortable. Breakfast depressive, passionless. Fight for coffee or toast standing queue. Tactical skills needed. At least hotel very tide and well maintained, swimming pool of size as a lake. Pool bar - no service. Sauna ok. Gym's basically equiped. Gaming room closed. Tipp: buy food in village store 5 min. away, eat in room, bring own water cooker with you. Summary: rough functional spot, zero joy. Hotel management has no passion to create nice atmosphere.

The check-in hour is 4 PM, kind of late, but we had the room ready at 2 PM when we arrived. BF was okay, hot water and hot room temperature during the night. We had a mountainside view which was great. Did not try Wi-Fi but had good mobile data coverage. Parking lot was full but there were some extra spaces available lateral to the main entrance where travelers usually don't park. Sauna (dry and wet) were included and were great though they tended to get crowded. Pool was big but could get crowded too and the water temperature seemed to be in the low 20's which was a big turnoff. Dining area was big and we also had gym available, though we didn't try it out either. Prices for the a-la-carte and pool bar were very high, but the food and drinks offering overall was good. On the spot room rate on the other hand was extremely expensive at 150 euros per night. Could do better with the bathroom renovations and the outside terrace which looked rusty and unkept. Receptionists were kind and welcoming. The influx of immigrant workers made it hard to make specific requests though basic english and gestures would suffice. All in all, would recommend if you have money to spend and to give it a try as a bit cheaper option in the area.
