Dover Beach Hotel

air conditioning doesn’t work ! display says 16c etc and fan runs but still can’t sleep due to heat , bizarre wince nice location , bar etc, not 24 hour reception so had to out up with it booked via British Airways who are awful l air con is a basic need here and to be mislead destroyed trust

Clean, but very old & dated. The air conditioning barely works. The television “system” is cobbled together and is absolutely impossible to figure out - there are 2 remotes and no instructions whatsoever. The person who came to help also had no idea how to operate it. The restaurant is awful. Very poor quality food & bad service. Ordered a bottle of white wine. They stuck a warm bottle is a bucket of ice & delivered it. Something broke and we had no hot water for over 12 hours. They decided to resurface the pool deck, so the pool was closed for all but one day. We checked in mid morning as we had just gotten off a cruise. The place was all but deserted, but they made us wait for check in time for a room. There couldn’t have been 4 occupied rooms in the whole place. One day, we thought we had lost our key card (they only issue one to a couple). We asked them to make a duplicate and they said it would be a $100 charge!! Luckily we found it. The staff, conversely, were all very nice and doing the best they could with what they had to work with. It’s a beautiful island full of very friendly people. Go visit, but stay somewhere else.

The staff are extremely attentive and friendly. We had an amazing day at the second pool and the children loved the gardens! We were apprehensive at first, as we usually do four star, but Dover Beach was definitely a fantastic budget find - comfortable, clean, nice grounds and location. This is on the better end if you are looking for a budget find. We will be back!

We had a really lovely stay at this hotel, the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are clean, beds very comfortable and overall we were very pleased with the hotel for the price point. Would highly recommend and would come back again next time we visit Barbados!

Stayed here as couple over the Christmas period. Location- hotel is situated at the end of St Lawrence gap, so it’s nice and quiet. It’s next to a beautiful beach. Bars & restaurants are a 10 minute walk. Accommodation- room has everything you need. Comfy bed. Air conditioning. Balcony. It’s pretty basic but very clean. Pool area- never had a problem getting a lounger by the pool or at the sea terrace. Food and drinks available. What makes this place special in my opinion is the bajan hospitality. The owners/ management went out of their way to ensure that we were made to feel special and welcome during our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel if you’re looking for Barbados on a budget.

The hotel is very dated and needs upgrading. The rooms are simple with very old furniture. The sheets also had stains on them. The toilet kept running as the handle was loose and the toilet really needed to be replaced. There was a continental breakfast for $26 which was stale pastry that was reheated in a microwave. The check in staff was lovely though. However to note there was a cashier lady who was very unpleasant at the bar. Generally I would not recommend this hotel to anyone going forward and definitely would not stay here again.

Our entire stay was simply incredible. We were in the garden view studio for one night which was fantastic, however we had upgraded to ocean view for 6 nights so changed rooms, ocean view was simply incredible, the staff were great, the food on site brilliant, both pools in great condition. I cannot recommend this hotel enough we will be returning at end of year.

My stay at The Dover Beach Hotel was a blend of authentic Caribbean charm and essential comfort, exactly what I look for in a holiday without breaking the bank. The hotel gives off a quaint vibe with daily housekeeping, replenished towels and toiletries, effective air conditioning, and comfortable beds. The storage space was ample, which for me, is a fundamental need. While the decor is a bit dated, the true-to-culture experience compensates well, especially given the reasonable pricing that allowed us to enjoy more of Barbados. Some staff maintained a professional distance; while they weren’t particularly engaging or overtly friendly, their manner was respectful, mirroring the straightforward and genuine demeanor of the Bajan people—a cultural trait I greatly appreciate. Location-wise, The Dover Beach Hotel is perfectly situated by St. Lawrence Gap, offering easy access to a variety of bars and restaurants. This was incredibly convenient for dining options outside the hotel. One minor hiccup was an unfortunate incident involving a disruptive couple from the UK. Their late-night altercation was disturbing. A polite reminder in the hotel about respecting the peace might be beneficial for maintaining tranquility. In summary, The Dover Beach Hotel will remain my top choice for a true Bajan holiday experience. It's a place where simplicity meets satisfaction, right in the heart of Barbados. Looking forward to my next stay, earplugs in tow!

Well just leaving had a great stay room was spotless couldn’t be any better staff were amazing always there to help and greet you only complaint is the bar could be open a bit later but apart from that I’d highly recommend this hotel not expensive at all will be booking up for next year as soon as I get back home thank you Dover beach !!!
