A good location and friendly staff

I agree with the 2 recent reviews which marked this place average. This place could be so much better and it feels like they are doing the bare minimum and relying on the admittedly superb harbour view to do the rest. We were in one of the top floor rooms and it was a bit tired, especially the bathroom. The website promised a delicious locally sourced breakfast. If you count bacon from the local supermarket as locally sourced then I guess technically they are correct, but it’s not a great look. As another reviewer said, the portions were a bit disappointing, and I’m not a huge eater. Again, it felt like the bare minimum. I wrote to Harbour view shortly after our visit with some feedback and I got no response. I’m not a big fan of posting negatives without giving owners the chance to respond. After all, many business owners respond to negatives on here with “why didn’t you tell us?” Well I tried. You didn’t respond, hence this review. Final point. While we were there having breakfast, a couple came into the dining area and chose a window table (with a view) that had just been vacated and needed clearing. The server was most put out that guests had the nerve to actually want to enjoy the much vaunted view while eating and muttered something about how they should have chosen a table that was set. Again it just smacked of wanting to do as little as possible. Overall, not impressed and wouldn’t go back. There’s better available.

I'll start with the positives, great location, lovely views of the harbour, clean rooms, friendly staff and tasty breakfast. A few negatives and recommendations... a lot of narrow steps to the room and no good for those with mobility issues, so maybe a warning on your website. We're young but the couple next to us had to get moved eventually. Curtains are just for show, please think about blackout curtains. Walls are very thin, could hear people next door until they went to sleep and then I enjoyed listening to their snoring. Finding the car park was an issue and if you have a large car I wouldn't even attempt parking. Maybe include photos of how to get to the parking space? Lastly, breakfast was tasty but the portion was too small and ran out of juice and pastries too quickly.
