Our 5th time here and once again excellent in every respect. Very friendly staff , good facilities, great choice of breakfast and ideally located for exploring the New Forest and beyond. We intend to return next year, if not before. David & Diane Hitchin Herts

Wonderful warm & personal service. We booked direct with the hotel. When they discovered my husband was celebrating a special birthday, they called me and told me they'd upgraded our room and also provided a complimentary bottle of prosecco. All the staff were so lovely. Our room was beautiful, a four poster made of local wood, huge bathroom and a balcony. Breakfast was excellent, both continental and freshly cooked. Named car parking so that we knew our space would be there. Great location to explore the beautiful New Forest and environs. We ate at the restaurant which is part of the hotel in the evenings - White Tails which was also very good.

If you want somewhere to explore the wildlife of the new forest, this is the perfect place, we had wild donkeys and cows just opposite the car park. We stayed here for two nights and booked via Secret Escapes. This came with tea & cake on arrival, a bottle of wine and breakfast. The room was comfortable and spacious with tea & coffee making facilities. The bathroom was also spacious, however, the water pressure of the shower was weak and when in the shower, your head almost touched the ceiling. The staff we extremely welcoming and friendly - they offered a wide range of recommendations for eating out and walks.

Small and friendly hotel in the middle of the town. You can walk to everything from here, places to eat, drink, hire bikes (recommend) or the train station to go a bit further. Nice breakfast, comfortable room

Excellent host who was welcoming, efficient and created a peaceful and warm atmosphere. Exbury room was spacious and comfortable. A really relaxing stay in a great location. Loved watching the donkeys from our room! Thank you for giving us such a wonderful stay. We will be back!

Tea or coffee with homemade cake on arrival whilst the paperwork was completed was a lovely touch. My room (Rufus Stone) had access to a cute outside garden seating area. Finding the hotel restaurant was closed on Sunday and Monday evenings was a small blow as Jackie was able to recommend some local pubs and restaurants in the village. I was also offered crockery and cutlery for a take away in my room. Breakfast was lovely and the restaurant room and staff were both lovely. As I had an early start on Tuesday morning, Jackie arranged for a mini fridge with a continental breakfast to be placed in my room. A cafetière was also included. I am looking for a reason to return.

We had a most enjoyable stay at Cottage Lodge. The host, Helder, was completely charming, and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed during very hot weather, and our ground floor room was shady, cool and quiet. Breakfast was outstanding, local ingredients beautifully cooked to order, plus cereal, yoghurt, fresh fruit, toast, pastries and preserves. I had the Spanish style breakfast which was delicious. The high street is just around the corner, with interesting shops. A great base to see the ponies, donkeys and general beauty of the New Forest

We made a last-minute booking for a two-night stay for my partner and me, followed by a one-night stay for my mother-in-law. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed with tea and cake, a thoughtful and personal touch that set the tone for our stay. What we have not experienced any where before Our accommodation featured a beautifully four-poster room, while my mother-in-law enjoyed a similar room with the added benefit of a balcony. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep for all of us. Breakfast was thoughtfully arranged, with the continental selection pre-ordered and the hot breakfast available to order on the day. The quality was outstanding, and it was evident that great care had been taken in its preparation. Throughout the hotel, the attention to detail and dedication to creating a welcoming atmosphere has not gone unnoticed. We can’t wait to come back!
