Broken River Mountain Resort

Our room was warm with an oil heater and use of a laundry was a bonus. The bed was comfortable but had to wipe down the wall near the fridge as it was dirty and the microwave hadn’t be wiped out. Was great to walk to view platypus and would stay again. Dinner in the restaurant was good home cooked meal and other dinners were very friendly.

The property was super close to the platypus viewing platforms. Beautiful grounds. The whole barramundi fish dinner was fantastic. The room interiors are a little dated but the room was clean and comfortable.

Lovely staff and a beautiful location, but in need of an update and clean. Unfortunately, stains, cobwebs, mildew and cracks greet you upon entry. This resort has so much potential and with an update and clean we would revisit. The restaurant is currently closed, but you have access to a communal barbecue and the kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils. A 60 second walk will bring you to a bridge where you can spot a platypus or two and there are walking tracks close by. It is a nice area to visit and there are some lovely camp sites close by.

Nestled amidst the rainforest of Eungella National Park, the Broken River Mountain Resort is a tranquil and serene retreat surrounded by nature. The garden of the resort is beautiful, and the accommodations are cozy, providing everything you need for a comfortable stay. While the cleanliness was satisfactory, I had some issues with how credit card payments via third-party booking sites were handled. However, these issues were resolved after discussing them with the resort staff. During my stay, I enjoyed the view from the Sky Window, embarked on a 16 km hike through the rainforest, and had the delightful experience of seeing platypuses swimming in the river. It was a wonderful getaway that offered a chance to relax and reflect on life.

My husband and I were looking forward to staying here. Unfortunately, we were a little disappointed because the lodges were run down slightly but we still had a comfortable stay. The owners would benefit from refurbishing the units because the price per night would then be okay. We did see a couple of little platypus but not as many as we would have liked. Warning - there is no air conditioning in the bedrooms and it was extremely hot when we arrived and no air conditioning had been turned on for our arrival. Apart from that, it is a lovely part of the world to stay/visit with all the wildlife around.

Wendy and the entire team were lovely and took very good care of us during our stay. Dinner cooked by Chef Joe was delicious, served in a beautiful woodland style restaurant area. The perfect place to enjoy a meal after getting to see 3-4 platypus for the first time! Thankyou very much to Wendy, Joe and the Team for a lovely stay!
