The Notary

Poor quality of room- dirty, dusty, not well cleaned. Bed bugs and more. Shortage of amenities eg slippers. Too much furniture. Not practical. Design weak. Replacement of expresso and tissues had to be chased down. Tv sound could not be increased- too low to listen to. Apparently set that way. Toilet not pert of bathroom and awkward to get to in middle of the night. Lots more weaknesses. Great potential with lovely garden and ok but overpriced restaurant and poor value for money

Fantastic hotel! An oasis in busy historic Bruges. Our suite was beautiful (Ayn Rand/Cloyster Suite), all common rooms were beautiful and the service was excellent and very friendly. The best part of the hotel are the beautiful gardens. We spend a couple hours each afternoon after sightseeing with our dogs enjoying a couple of drinks and the well manicured gardens. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the main square in a quiet street. They have 4 parking spots, we rented one and it was super convenient. The hotel was so well maintained we thought is just opened, but it has been open for 4 years. The best hotel we have ever stayed in in Belgium.

It was the best place ever and I would recommend to stay there again because the service was awesome and it was the best and the bed was perfectly clean and the bathroom was spotless not one single mess and it was awesome to have a clean place you should stay there also.

Finest Hotel Experience we have ever had. We've had very nice Hotel experiences, from New York City's finest, to some of America's most iconic independent hotels like the Broadmoor in Colorado. This experience takes the cake and tops them all. A wonderful experience in every aspect.

We have just returned from an amazing 3 night stay at this beautiful hotel in Bruge. The hotel is exquisite, beautifully decorated with amazing attention to detail. We stayed in a beautiful suite of two bedrooms and lounge overlooking the garden & outdoor cold water pool. All the team at The Notary are attentive, polite and courteous. They could not do enough for all of us. If you love to eat great food, the meals are a truly amazing experience. The chef explains everything with each dish served. The dining room is intimate with spectacular view of the garden and the decor is divine. We cannot wait to return to this gorgeous hotel which is superbly located to the nearby main square in Bruge. We would highly recommend... thank you for making my special birthday extraordinary.

The Notary is undoubtedly a beautiful property, but at 760euros a night, we felt it did not offer a 5-star experience. The staff is small and seemed inexperienced. The concierge Patrick was grumpy and everytime we asked him for anything, he behaved like he was doing us a favor, making us feel uncomfortable. Upon arrival, our fireplace was not working, nor was the iPad that controls mostly everything in the room. The decor throughout the hotel is beautiful, but also very abundant - in our room we had to move decorative items to make space for our belongings and there was not enough space to hang our clothes. No waste bin in the bathroom, which was not provided until the next day and a shower that leaked onto the floor. Extremely small toilet room. Service at the bar/restaurant goes from slow to non existent. One evening, we were the only ones, but had to go to the kitchen to ask if we could see the menu ! Breakfast is average, expensive and slow. Would not return - The Notary offers absolutely no value for money.
