We stayed in the 3-Corners hotel Anna for 5 nights while we were in Budapest. We left for 2 days to the lake Balaton so we had a chance to try out two different rooms in this hotel. In both occasions we stayed in a Deluxe double room which was supposed to be larger than the regular double room. So how was it? Let's start with the good things: The service was good. The receptionists were cheerful and helpful and they let us leave our luggage in their store room while we went down to Lake Balaton for two nights. The breakfast was very good (for a 3* hotel) and it has quite a lot of varieties... Not just cheese, ham and bread but different meats, eggs and even fruits we have a selection which changes everyday. The room rate was reasonably cheap for what I consider to be a downtown location. The location was in a quiet residential area and it was close to different tram and metro stops (about 5 -7 mins walk) and you could find supermarket, restaurants, a laundry and banks nearby. Of course if you need to go to the major tourist attractions you would need to take the public transportation as the hotel was not near any of these. (The closest attraction was perhaps the central marketplace which you would need 20 mins of walking) But public transportation is cheap in Budapest so this is not really a concern. In fact the neighbourhood was so quiet that we first felt unsafe the first time we went back to the hotel after dark but it turned out to be relatively safe and the people we saw were mostly residents there or travellers like us. Now the things that I am picky on: I felt like I was staying in an university hall of residence when I passed by the numerous doors along the long, long corridor wing that was painted in blandish white. Inside the room the furniture was very basic. There were two bean bags as your only seats. A very small table? against the wall that was more for putting stuff than for your to work on and the wardrobe was just a rack for hanging your clothes. We were already in a deluxe room and yet I still felt the room was not big. The wash basin was outside the toilet and so was the shower cubicle. Yes the shower cubicle, with the see-through glass panels, was outside the toilet. So what that means is your roommate in the room will see EVERYTHING while you were taking a shower. It might be ok if you went with your loved one but imagine if you were just going with your friend or even your relative.... I never understood why they did not bother even to cover up with a curtain or made the glass opaque. Thank goodness they still had a door for the toilet! They tried to decorate the room like a chic boutique hotel with large photos of Budapest but having stayed in real boutique hotels before I had my own expectations. Overall the hotel was ok and it did the job of feeding me well in the morning as well as giving me a quiet and clean place to stay for the price I paid. (Beds and pillows were ok so we had good sleeps) I am sure it met t
