Gorilla Heights Lodge

We had an amazing stay at Gorilla Heights Lodge for our honeymoon! Our room was huge and clean, with a beautiful balcony view over the forest. We loved hanging out by the pool after gorilla trekking, apparently one of the only lodges in the area with a pool! Enjoying the sauna and steam room was a nice way to end the day! The staff made it even more amazing, so helpful and friendly! We’d highly recommend Gorilla Heights Lodge!

The staff were amazing. The food was delicious with plenty of variety. The cottage was roomy, very clean and the view was amazing. Hot water may not always abundant but a quick shower works fine!Loved our stay and would love to go back! And a great base to do the gorilla trekking…

The road to Gorilla lodge is beautiful and absolutely well worth the arrival. As its very high in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, and very close to the Gorilla experience, its to be expected to be a bit bumpy but that is part of being in Africa. And the arrival makes it all worth it. Celstine Masiga is the GM and was on hand to greet the group together with the smiling staff (everyone smiles in Uganda) and warm hot towels and a fabulous dinner prepared by a seasoned Chef of many years. Our chalets were breathtaking and the view across the valley is something that you can consider unforgettable. I never closed my doors because it meant I could not see the sun rise or sun set. Its very close (2km) to the Gorilla experience and it means that after your vertical climb to see these incredible animals, you can return early enough to enjoy your chalet and all it has to offer. From the outside bath to the kingsize bed which has a hotwater bottle to warm those toes, from the large spacious bathroom and shower to the well appointed kitchen (I was booked into a villa), I didn't want to go home. The restaurant and lounge area is beautifully decorated and easy to have your meals and spend time on the spacious balcony bar. In the dry months, there are sundowners on a hill nearby and an unforgettable moment. There are a million stars at night that can be seen from the Lodge. Not only do they work together with the community but they support them too. Buying local vegetables, supplying water from their 1 million litre tank to families near by, Most of the crafts sold in the craft shop in the lodge, are from the locals and those that are not made locally - the give 20% to the community. They use solar for sustainability and 90% of the staff is local. They have also been involved in the rehoming of the pygmy tribe called the Batour to ensure their survival. So when you book into this amazing lodge, you support an entire community. You can also fly into the local airport and there is a transfer that will collect you and return you to the airport. Definitely a lodge to return to on every possible occasion!

Had a fantastic experience at Gorilla Heights Lodge. Loved the personalised service. On arrival, received a relaxing hand massage. The hot water bottle provided during turn down helped me to sleep well. My gum boots were muddy after mountain gorilla tracking and the staff on their own volunteered to wash them. The complimentary steam and sauna provided much-needed relaxation after the tiring tracking for mountain gorillas.

Gorilla Heights Lodge in the mist is the best Lodge in Nkuringo sector. The moment you reach at the lodge you just feel at home. The hand massage that you get when you have just arrived makes your body to relax and forget the long journey. The amazing staff and good services just make your vacation awesome. We really had a nice stay while at the lodge. Wow the heated swimming pool is so amazing. If you really want to relax, honey moon, anniversary I recommend this Lodge. When we talk about luxury they are the best in Beindi.

To say that this lodge is beautiful would be an understatement. You can tell there was thought put into the planning; the interior is excellent with cute things like the gorilla tip jar and the reindeer laps, the cottages are adequately spaced, the beds are comfortable, and the view is incredible from the balcony. It is quiet and peaceful, perfect for solo vacations or couples. If you are a lazy traveller (the kind that wants to relax and not do so many activities, it's perfect, especially after a tedious gorilla tracking experience). The view of the forest from my cottage was lovely, and in the morning, The only downside is that the place is quite far from the main road (about 2 hours) and the road is bumpy as it's a murram road around the hills to get to the lodge which makes the journey tedious, but once I got there and the masseuse gave me a massage, I forgot about that painful part of the journey. The staff, especially the manager, are very welcoming, accommodating and professional. (I had an issue with the heating on day one, but it was addressed and solved promptly) 10/10 worth every cent!
