Burythorpe House is in an idylic, peaceful countryside location. However, it is conveniently close to local attractions, which is perfect for days out or just relaxing at the property. The hotel was spacious and clean, and the staff were friendly and attentive; nothing was too much trouble. Special thanks to Minna a personable young lady, who was on the evening shift, for making our evenings spent in the lounge/bar so pleasant, and Jennifer, on the breakfast shift who could not do enough to make sure the service was excellent, with a sunny disposition. The hotel is charming and quirky, we stayed in a superior double room on the first floor which was full of character. Access to the upstairs was by stairs only. My husband has severe arthritis in his hip and requires a replacement. However, the stairs are not steep, and he managed them easily. Staff did offer to help with our luggage, but we were able to manage ourselves. The bedroom was airy and spacious. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was large with an invigorating shower and freestanding bath. There were luxury toiletries and tea, coffee and fresh water provided. The views from the room were looking over rolling countryside. The hotel was fully booked during our stay, but at no time did we hear any noise from other guests. The breakfasts were excellent and plentiful. We had dinner at the hotel, and the food was of a high standard and perfectly portioned. The lounge at the hotel has relaxing music played at a low volume, which creates a warm ambience. On the Saturday early evening, there was entertainment provided in the way of a saxophone player, known as Gary Sax, who was happy to take requests, and we thoroughly enjoyed listening to him. The cost of staying at the hotel plus food and drinks were all very well priced for the quality and excellent service provided. We will definitely be back soon!
