Good stay but small improvements to the hotel could make it better! We stayed at the Elba Sara resort in August 2024. We have never been to Fuerteventura and we didn’t know what to expect or any hotels that were recommended to stay in. This resort had glowing reviews through Jet2 and Trip Advisor. Therefore, we wanted to give it a try for our first family holiday abroad with a toddler. There were some great points and equally some not so great points that influenced my star rating! Some great : - Food (buffet style: always hot, varied and tasty! The buffet restaurant was clean, tidy and had lots of staff. The A la carte restaurant was a lovely treat on one of the nights of our stay. But all other nights are in the buffet restaurant and this worked well for what we wanted - Animation team: were great with lots of varied activities for all ages. We had great fun at the mini disco in the evening and all the team were very enthusiastic during our trip and were also very friendly! - Splash pool: great area for the children and pool area kept clean and tidy - Location: Proximity to the airport, beach and only a 5 minute walk to external bars, shops, supermarket and restaurants Not so great: 1. Check in: everyone booked on to Jet2 holidays to stay at the resort checked in to the hotel after we arrived from the airport transfer. We were behind other families in the queue and their rooms were ready and ours was not. We never received a proper explanation and this meant we had to navigate bags, family and arriving in a new country with nowhere to relax. The room was not ready until a few hours after we originally checked in. This normally would not bother us, but the fact we had a young family and other people with families (who had been on the same flight/transfer) checked in and received their room straight away. This really confused us and meant a longer wait than anticipated for the room. There was also a few problems in the room. - Fan: did not work in bathroom and after using shower it smelt slightly of damp. Reported this and repairman attended when we were in the room and just told us it was faulty - Towels: Asked for clean towels as ours were not changed after a few days. These ‘new’ towels were dirty and had marks/hair on them - flagged to reception - Air con - decided to stop working in the room after a few days on the holiday. As it was peak season and we travelled August it was really warm during the days and with the temperamental air con, this wasn’t great - Changing bedding - unsure on the rules although we stayed for a week and the bedding was not changed. - Housekeeping came in a few times (No where means a deal breaker, but with the other room points. This heightened this specific point) As we reported these issues that I have marked as ‘not so great’ and never had a follow up with management etc. This meant our room was not up to the standard that it states on the site and we were disappointed with this.
