Elba Carlota Beach & Golf Resort

Here is our honest review as a couple in our mid 20s that visited the hotel this September. We were all inclusive for 1 week. Upon arrival the hotel reception was well presented with lovely views looking out to the pool area. It filled us with good feelings about our holiday but unfortunately this didn’t stick. Room - we arrived a little early so was advised to come back at 3pm to see if our room was ready. They also said that if there was a chance the room could be ready before this time, that they would call us. Around 2pm I got a call to say our room was ready. The rooms are relatively spacious, tv has BBC, ITV etc. We had a stand in shower which was great and it looked to be pretty clean. Unfortunately, the pillow had some blood stains on it which I reported via the app. These were visible through the pillowcase. A new pillow was delivered to the room a couple hours later but the pillow with the blood stains on it was left in the room with us all week for some reason. It would have been nice for it to be removed with it being a 4 star hotel. On a number of occasions our towels weren’t changed, were changed really late in the day or changed but had rips/tears in them and weren’t to the best clean standard which you would hope from a 4 star. One particular day we got back to our room about 4/5pm, I got ready to hop in the shower and the next minute the door swings open. The cleaner lets herself in without knocking whilst I am about to climb into the shower. For context, the bathroom doors do not close properly and are just frosted glass. They have no locks on them, they just swing open and closed. This absolutely mortified me and whilst I can laugh about it now, it really upset me at the time. I appreciate the delivery of clean towels, although it was late on in the day to do so, but it would have been courteous to knock first. So be aware of that one guys!! Food/drinks - Breakfast was ok. It doesn’t do full English breakfast set up if that’s what you are looking for. It does ok sausages but the bacon is very strange it’s nothing like usual bacon. Plenty of fruit, yoghurt, breads etc. Everything was presented well but was often lukewarm/cold. Lunch/snack bar - the same applies to the lunch service in terms of it being presentable but often cold. I found the taste of things to be very strange such as the pizza was extremely salty. The snack bar is left overs from breakfast such as ham&cheese croissants and some very cold, stale looking hot dogs/burgers/pasta. We didn’t eat here more than twice. Dinner/Evening meal - again, the same applies for the dinner meals. It was presentable but often cold and had an acquired taste. Lots of fish on offer, typical sort of all inclusive food. We personally didn’t enjoy the food at all and ended up eating out for the rest of the holiday from after only a couple days of being here. We stayed in thus hotel for 10 days attend of July Reception and check in Friendly reception staff and check-in was quick, although we were one of two couples or families that were checking in at the same time. The staff on reception sorted any issues out in a timely manner. Room We had originally booked a double room (2 adults and a 5yo child), but we got upgraded to a suite which was really good and unexpected as there was plenty of space for the three of us . Tea and coffee making facilities, plenty of wardrobe space and shelves. In the main, the rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels. If you were missing anything, you were able to order it via the app that they send you via email which was really useful as we requested extra pillows and they came that day. Hairdryer in the bathroom and a fridge. The only thing we didn’t have was complementary water which I’ve experienced elsewhere so make sure you have some on arrival. Safety deposit box which was around 3 euros a day (I think). Pools There are two main pools and a child’s pool ( under 8 years) and the middle one being the warmer one. One main issue is the sunbed debacle so if you want a shaded area, you have to go against all the principles and reserve a sunbed with towels even though it does say that this is not allowed (but everyone was doing that). Not ideal but when you have a young child you need shade For 10 euros you can hire towels and get them changed 1x during your stay. Kids club and animation Kids club seemed okay although my little boy was not that interested and the team not too engaging. There was plenty of things to do during the day and there was a mini disco at night although this was slightly letdown with the varying venues. One of the venues was in the convention centre so it felt like you were in a conference rather than a mini disco All inclusive Only my opinion, but I have to say the food was not that great . Breakfast was the usual which was okay but lunch and dinner was very mixed. There was the usual salad bar, meat and fish (which varied from being dry, under/over cooked) and the usual breads and dessert area etc. replenishing food was poor. The kids selection was poor ( if your kids like cheese, pasta and chips they’ll be ok as pizza on every day) and the “fish” fingers and “chicken” nuggets we’re disgusting and not sure they had ever seen meat or fish. We didn’t eat at the pool bar as that was left in containers for you to help yourself to, so not freshly cooked and looked a tad ropey. We were disappointed by the food. There were theme nights from what I could tell. I steered away from the gin after I saw someone clean the bar area with it …. Few cocktails on offer and the beer and wine were palatable. Beach Literally across the road from The back gate often hotel and you’re on the beach. For €4 per item you could hire a sunbed. What a fantastic hotel but disappointed no sunbed wars too much food choice and everyone civilised , some people’s reviews are the opposite of this but I don’t understand friendly very hardworking staff who only try to help at least try some Spanish with them they will appreciate you trying , great food and drink and superb facilities helped by a fab hotel if your thinking of staying go for it you won’t be disappointed

Everything about our holiday was perfect. We had a gorgeous pool and sea view, the bed was massive and so comfortable. Everyday the animation team gave 100% we enjoyed the pool activities and loved how there was a quiet pool too. We never struggled to get a sunbed, and the pool bar was excellent. Breakfast, lunch and dinner offered so much choice and the staff were very attentive. There was not one member of staff who didn’t smile or not say hello. We didn’t even bring any kids and still brought a stuffed Pepe mascot! Shout out to James on reception who was brilliant. We walked along the beach to the centre, recommend the Back to the 80s bar.. On Saturday we visited the market, lots of fake designer things and bits and bobs. There is a supermarket and small shopping centre next door too and a McDonalds near by. Thank you again for our celebratory bottle on arrival that was a lovely touch as we were celebrating a Birthday. We will definitely be back.

lovely staff, amazing beach, an awesome assortment of food , great place to stay, weather was lovely for march also, the beach right outside the hotel was the best in the whole area, the food on offer was of every type possible, different variety every night and topped up regularly, can't fault anything, would love to go back soon again,

Very clean & tidy hotel & resort. Nice grounds and nice walk way directly down to the beach. The hotel had a games room, an evening entertainment venue (usually starting at 9pm) and a fab kids disco in another area (from 8:30pm). Always plenty of room and not too busy the week we went in these venues. We had a bath with an over bath powerful shower, always with plenty of hot water. All staff at the hotel, resort & airport were welcoming & friendly, this made a real difference to us feeling relaxed and comfortable staying here. Kids club - we were able to just go and do our own thing e.g. use the soft play, arts & crafts (our autistic 7 year old wouldn’t have been able to stay on his own especially when they were off doing activities, in particular at the pool). No queues at the restaurant whatever time we went. Always plenty of seats at the restaurant & tables always being cleared Food hot, plenty of choice and ‘safe’ options too. We were 1/2 board, you get a drinks list when you go into the restaurant for your evening meal (not for brekki as all the drinks were included then), a staff member takes your drinks order(s) and adds to the list to use as your bill you take to the till to pay on your way out. Being 1/2 board we were able to book one a la carte reservation for the week. The only thing we didn’t realise, the a la carte was only open Monday-Weds (our stay was Sat-Sat), we went to book Weds to find we missed out going there :( Cool-warm pools, not freezing. Meaning our son did get to enjoy them most days unlike a lot of past 3-4 star hotels we’ve stayed at where the pools have always been freezing even in super hot countries! Super location, right next to a lovely quiet beach, with lovely promenade walks. Market (open Sat & Tues) 15-20 mins walk away. Only 15-30mins from the airport (depending on how many hotel stops on route). It didn’t bother us being on an air flight path, the planes weren’t that noisy. A couple of minutes away from some shops, restaurants and a supermarket. A playzone including; bowling, pool, air hockey & arcade games (you need to go to the machine to get a min 5 Euro card to use on the arcade machines). Also, a little kids pay for adventure park which included: trampolines, bouncy castle slide, go karts and a carousel (12 Euro for 30mins but they let us stay longer & come back if not too busy). Our visit to the zoo was amazing. Bus pick-up outside the hotel every morning (9:30am during our stay) 5 Euros per person return. Weather - I think we were a little unlucky the week we went (12-19th April 2025), it didn’t really hot up until late afternoon. However, we were mainly out on walks in the mornings and it was still warm. Just needed a jumper or a jacket to take the edge off the wind. We knew friends that visited a few weeks before and even in Jan with hotter weather (up to 28 degrees in Jan!). Would highly recommend this hotel & resort :)
