Ona Sueño Azul

Friendly & Peaceful self-catering accommodation. 33 villas with communal pool, table tennis & snooker table. Located on a hill. Supermarket, a few restaurants are down the hill. It is a steep climb back to accom on foot. A long-term guest said taxis situated at the bottom of the hill will drive you back to accom with shopping bags. Some of the villas are timeshares, obvious firm friendships clearly established  over the years whuch was lovely to observe around the pool. I think the place is best suited to 50++  but there were also families with young children. Not the destination for those looking for clubs and nightlife, though taxis can be taken to those areas. The accommodation is a bit dated but was very clean with comfy beds. The jewel in the crown is the café/bar "La Terazza" run by Alexandra, Pavlov and their daughters. They are so welcoming & accommodating. Nothing is a problem. Special mentionfor the two waitresses Tracy who is so friendly, chatty & helpful too & young Summer. All the staff at La Terazza added so much to our break with their chats and kindness. They literally provide a 5☆ service to everyone who crosses the threshold of their café. I think its run separately to Oña Suenño Azul and it's an added bonus  to the guests. Bravo to them all for their service and friendliness. The Maintenance men were also friendly. Only slight negative was Reception. Minimal conversation from either lady. No greeting or niceties. Upon check-in no info provided. Failed even to mention pool towels are provided by them & we would need a code to access the pool area! We found that out when we realised we couldn't open the gate. Luckily a passing guest provided the code. Went to pool to be told by another guest  we needed to return to reception for towels! The second reception lady (cropped hair) ..Dour. No smile, curt one word responses delivered in an abrupt unfriendly manner, every interaction the same. Upon checkout, her only words:  "Did you return the pool towels?".  That was it! No "Hope you enjoyed your stay/Safe trip",  nothing! ‍♀️ Left a negative impression. In my opinion, this is not the person to have as Front of house staff. Disappointing. A stark contrast to the professionalism & friendliness of everyone else, especially all the "La Terazza" personnel. All in all, highly recommend Oña Sueño Azul for a peaceful break. The option of eating/drinking at La Terazza is a real advantage if you don't want to go exploring or tackling the hill.

Fabulous place to holiday, great staff and bar/restaurant in a quiet village resort. Reference Catherine Charltons review While I sympathise with her regarding her burglary, she was not staying at the Ona Sueno Azul resort. The Ona Sueno Azul resort and reception staff have no responsibility for any of the privately rented villas which are located nearby. It is therefore rather an unfair review.

Excellent location in a well equipped and clean villa unit with good access and yet privacy. Good outside space for dining and simply relaxing. We would certainly stay here again.

Lovely resort, but very remote( which we knew,) you definitely need a car if you want to go out and do things. Upon check in I didn't find the lady very friendly and I felt anything I asked( as she wasn't forth coming with information) was a hassle. The English lady was very friendly and very helpful. When we arrived we had our bags and we were going to take the luggage trolley but didn't as the lady said very quickly" make sure you bring that back" that immediately got my back up and thought "wow what a service" We wouldn't return and the main reason is the beds in the Villa are the worst beds we've ever stayed in. They are soooooooooo uncomfortable. Very hard even though there was a mattress topper the linen didn't fit them and no matter what we tried the linen didn't stay on and we'd wake up in bits every morning. Also the pillows are awful. One day we went off for our lunch for exactly 1 hour and 10 minutes to come back to an empty pool but our towels all together and note basically saying don't do this. That is fine if you are doing that to everyone. We saw many towels left for many hours and nothing said to those people. Very unprofessional. If you're going to do it one family it should be done to everyone. Lifeguards not very friendly. In the whole 2 weeks not one of them spoke to us. They were sitting on the chair and on their phones most of their shift. The food and drink was excellent in Terraza restaurant and the staff were so friendly. Only for them. They made our holiday special. The people who have timeshares seem to think they own the place literally. A few of them made us feel unwelcome and I didn't expect that on a holiday we've paid for. Some of them were lovely and friendly and helpful. Very little for kids and the pool table wasn't working when we arrived and then it was fixed. Throughout our stay my boys lost money on it and because reception closes at 6pm we had no one to ask and then the boys were afraid to ask as they didn't find reception very friendly. The BBQ was absolutely disgusting. I'm attaching photos. This was what we were greeted with and had intended to use it but it turned my stomach. Don't advertise a BBQ if that's what you're giving people. Please clean them. They need to be thrown away and new ones bought. A health hazard. Also there was a red stain on our linen upon check in.. it looked disgusting. Room was serviced but obviously the maids don't change the linen or look at it even. Picture attached. Overall Callao Salvaje is a lovely little town with lovely bars and restaurants and if we were to come back we'd stay somewhere else. Upon checkout not one person asked us "how was our stay" I worked in the hotel industry for many years and this was one thing I always asked guests upon departure. It's a small thing but extremely important.

Traveling with three children. Excellent facility with three bedroom and pool closely. Air conditioners and grill one the porch.

Absolute perfection. We came as a family of 6 with 2 children check in on arrival was straight forward. The villa we had was perfect 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms included a washer balcony had sun beds a little garden and table and chairs very spacious and private it's like a home from home . The beds was comthy and all the area including the villa was spotless we would definitely return and already looking to rebook. Thankyou for a great stay and making our family holiday.
