Ardshiel Hotel

We ate here whilst in the area, on the recommendation of our host. The hotel is nicely decorated and immaculately clean, always a good start. Staff were very welcoming and showed us quickly to our table and offered drinks. The local Fyne IPA was as good as I've had, the SB wine was lovely too, nicely chilled. The menu was a wee bit limited, but as I was looking for a burger, it suited me fine. I had the Rob Roy beef burger. It was excellent with only 2 minor issues, the bun hadn't been toasted and the haggis inside was too much and made the whole thing a little soggy. The haggis bon bon on top was a much nicer eating experience. My eating partner had prawn salad and it was excellent We shared a panacea for desert, it was a delight, with a mango coulis and micro-mint as a topping. The whole meal was excellent overall and we will definitely return. The whisky collection is quite incredible, 550 bottles on display in the hotel, inc some very expensive vintages. Apparently there are over 5,00 more bottles within the business, this makes a return to the area inevitable

A group of seven cyclists we were made to feel very welcome. Rooms were cozy and evening meal and breakfast were lovely and good value for money. Service was excellent and all our requests were satisfied promptly. If exploring the area I’d recommend a stay.

We enjoyed two nights bed and breakfast and evening meal at the hotel. The hotel has a wonderful warm and friendly atmosphere and all the staff that we came into contact with were superb. Having come on a “whisky trip“ we made full use of the extensively stocked whisky bar. The evening meals we had on both evenings were excellent. I would particularly like to recommend the Tam O’ Shanter burger and the fish chips and peas. The haggis pizza also made an original and very filling side dish! Breakfast was both relaxed and a good preparation for some cask strength whisky at Springbank.

We ate here following a recommendation from a local. I have to say it was one of the best meals we have ever had. We were warmly welcomed by Suzy (I think that was her name!) who served us a drink at the bar. Another lovely waitress brought over menus as we sat in the bar and took our order. When our food were ready our drinks were taken to our table. The decor was fresh and contemporary but still maintaining a Scottish influence with tasteful tartan. Our food was beautifully cooked. We had food from the specials menu - the venison casserole and the monk fish (I think. Whatever the fish was it was delicious!) with a lobster bisque sauce. For desserts we had the chocolate and orange brownie and a cheeseboard. All amazing! The waitresses were so kind and friendly and there was a great atmosphere. We would definitely recommend this restaurant! Thank you!

Our time at the Ardshiel included delicious food for dinner and breakfast, as well as a great location to explore Campbeltown. You can walk everywhere you need to go from this location. The rooms were a bit hit or miss, with some having good water pressure and others not. There is no elevator and if you have a top floor room, it is alot of stairs. Many rooms have alot of space as well. This hotel is fussier about things than most. They require a non refundable deposit where most any other places do not, and they required alot of paperwork and information to stay here where no other hotel does. They are known for their food and whisky bar, and many people enjoy staying here. It just has it's quirks.

Brilliant hotel, great location and food is really lovely. Good quality ingredients in the breakfast and the staff are so friendly, helpful and cheerful. Had a superior room and it was lovely and absolutely spotless. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
