I'll start by saying that this was not the hotel we booked, the Zaffiro Can Picafort was the original booking however Zaffiro opted to refurbish it. Our tour operator then placed us at the Zaffiro Mallorca instead. We asked Jet2 for free breakfast as this hotel had fewer facilities than the original one and I wanted compensating for that. Jet 2 refused stating that because the replacement was in the same resort with the same star rating, they were not obligated to compensate us, bad form if you ask me; they did however contact the in resort team and asked them to see what could be done. A few days past and Zaffiro came back and offered us complementary Half Board Plus (including drinks with evening meals), this was way beyond what I had asked for so top marks to the management team at the Zaffiro Mallorca. On arrival at the hotel around midday, for some reason our room was not ready, the receptionist told us it was just being cleaned and we would have a short wait. I found this odd as they knew we were coming. We decided to fill the time and went for lunch in the buffet restaurant, costing €45 for the family. After that we went back to reception to find out room was still not ready, 2 hours after our arrival. With nothing to do we waited in reception. The manager then approached us, saying that there were maintenance issues with the room and they were working to resolve them, she then refunded the €45 lunch charge. Although the hotel should have done better in preparation for our arrival, I was very satisfied with how management dealt with the situation. Shorty after we were able to go to our room, which still had wet paint in the cooking hobs. The food at the hotel was first class! So many tasty options including plenty of veggie options. Every evening they have a theme option, the mexican was particularly good. The hotel staff were very helpful and polite, the kids club was great too. Our room was cleaned to a high standard every day and the hotel grounds were always clean and filled with beautiful plants and trees, stand fast 2 small water features next to reception, they are in a sorry state and in need of refurbishment. We had booked a swim up pool room, however the pool was very very cold, I know its only late April, but I don't know why hotel chains like this one don't invest in Solar systems to power their hotels and heat pools, with such massive roof spaces and year round sun, it's a no-brainer. So unless you come after June, don't waste your money on a room like this, you just won't get the benefit. (I'd say that applies to most hotels, not just this one). There is a small indoor pool which was a life-saver. The sauna and steam room was not in operation which was a shame. I didn't want to book a sauna session at reception and have them turn it on at a specific time, again why not use solar to power them.
