Canterbury Cathedral Lodge

A well-appointed hotel in a privileged location within the Cathedral precinct. The staff were helpful with a courteous and friendly disposition. Breakfast was excellent in quantity and quality. We strongly recommend this hotel when visiting Canterbury.

We stayed at the lodge for our daughter's graduation, so we could be near the Cathedral for the ceremony. It is such a fantastic place to stay, you just can't believe you are in the middle of a city. The room was very clean and comfortable and the choice you have for your breakfast is amazing and very, very tasty. All the staff were friendly, polite and informative. But I have to give a big shout to the evening staff, Tom is a fantastic character who will go beyond the call of his duties and the lovely guys on the gates who keep the place and visitors secure are fabulous. We want to say a big thank you to each and everyone of you. Also the lovely young waiters and waitresses who have to serve up breakfast at such an early hour with a big smile on their faces

Stayed here for one night in a hot July evening. The location is perfect for Canterbury and the gardens downstairs and up are lovely. The rooms are nice but the shower is a tad small but water pressure is good. I feel this hotel misses up on not tsing the excellent outdoor area, the var area shuts at 4 pm and there no onsite food in the evening. I would stayed here again as it’s a very convenient location and is setup well, but a few tweaks could make this hotel easily best in Canterbury

1/ buildings and grounds: very well maintained extremely clean 2/ the rooms : on the small side (we are in a restricted space walled city!) but everything you need is there: complete shower room, large and fantasticality comfortable beds, TV, hot drinks tray, hair dryer ... and that view !! breathtaking !! 3/ breakfast : served in a lovely restaurant by very helpful staff, the choices are endless and the food is top quality 4/ the staff : they push the boat out for you ! reception staff, maids , cooks and everyone else who work there : congratulation your dedication pays out our stay was flawless Debert family rooms 211 and 212 (picture taken at dawn)

This must be one of the best positioned hotels in the country. Its courtyard entrance is maybe 50m from the cathedral, within the Cathedral grounds, which enables the lucky guest to park for a small charge. Add to that some of the best, friendliest customer service we have ever experienced and it was a no-brainer that our stay would be memorable. Our room, on the first floor (of two), had a knockout view of the Cathedral and was very comfortable. Additionally, being inside the locked confines of the cathedral it is quiet at night. We arrived to a lovely greeting at reception and partook of scones and tea in the hotel garden - the weather being beautiful for October! After some shopping and an evening of dinner plus theatre in the town we slept well. Breakfast had a very wide choice and again the service was immaculate and friendly. The icing on the cake was the complementary free entry to the cathedral, which we used before our departure. It lacks a restaurant for evening dining and the bar is somewhat small, but the fleshpots of Canterbury are but a short stroll away. We took advantage of the 10% discount that the hotel had obtained at a very good eatery. Having missed out on Canterbury for some 40 years we must repeat our break and stay again at The Lodge!

This is a terrific place to stay at a good price. SlIt has s imple but very pleasant rooms. A great breakfast is included in a nice dining room, with helpful waiters. Staff is very helpful. Literally a stone’s throw from the Cathedral entrance. Stay here two nights.

The location is exceptional, inside the Cathedral grounds and so in the centre of Canterbury, but it is tranquil and quiet. All the staff are extremely helpful and friendy from the young lady at the gatehouse, to the reception staff and waiters. Prior to traveling my husband injured his knee and the reception staff went above and beyond to move us to a ground floor room which really helped us. The breakfast selection is very good and the food is delicious, and the rooms and facilities are clean and comfortable.
