Hotel Creu de Tau Art&Spa-Adults Only

We spent a week here in March, and while the weather was poor, the hotel facilities more than made up for it. The staff were so kind and friendly. I really felt spoilt on my birthday as they went out of their way to provide surprise breakfast bubbles and afternoon coffee and cake. The rooms are cosy and comfortable and the whole building has a wonderful authentic atmosphere and connection with its former life. We loved the pool and sauna, both warm and inviting. There was plenty to explore in the local area and some very good restaurants within walking distance in the village.

Excellent hotel and outstanding service. Present GM and care for the guests. Very nice room. Good breakfast. Perfectly clean and excellent housekeeping. Nice atmosphere. Parking is an advantage. Good location to visit other places. Very nice design, a high sense of aesthetics, everything is chosen carefully.

Overall a fabulous hotel, just not quite perfect. The best - huge rooms (we had a superior), amazing views of castle - suggest these are requested as not all rooms overlook the castle. As for the rest of the room, the shower is large and separate to the main bathroom, there is a very large bath, although we weren’t sure we’d be able to get out of it once in. There’s plenty of hanging space and storage. The bar setting is stunning, they have adapted original architecture beautifully. The building is quite remarkable and the setting in a smallish historical town is interesting, enough places to potter about if you are there for a couple of days. The staff are really friendly, the manager, Antonio, is very hands-on and will do his utmost to sort any issues, he also greeted us on arrival and was also present at breakfast. Lovely spa. I didn’t explore in full but the reflexology massage was superb. Not so great - the lighting system in the bedroom is annoying and confusing, with lights going out in the bathroom/dressing area if you aren’t moving around enough. Breakfast has a very good cold buffet but there are almost no hot options - they will do eggs to order but there isn’t even a toast station or the option to request toast. We ordered eggs Benedict one day and the eggs weren’t cooked enough, the whites were still slightly clear, and the waitress tried to say that this is how they are served. We saw them on another table during our stay and they were properly cooked so I think we were just unlucky. There are hardly any vegetarian options on the dining menu, which put us off eating there in the evening. The outdoor pool is not very big and is 1.6m throughout other than for a shallow platform where you can sit on the side and paddle, there’s no shallow end as such. For such a premium hotel they should provide daily bottled water in the room, not just one on arrival. (Although this can be refilled at the water cooler by the pool.)

Beautifully converted nunnery retaining the charm of the original building with very modern technology. Very warm greeting and the staff were very pleased to show us all the hotel had to offer. The bed was comfortable and the walk in shower was spacious. The hotel is centrally situated and only a few minutes walk from bars, restaurants and the castle.

Beautifully restored building with artwork, lovely furniture and quality finishings, but our room was at the front of the hotel which is on a very busy road which slightly spoils the peace and tranquility. Pool area is gorgeous, a short walk away from the hotel, with comfy sunbeds and decked area. Pool is not large, but adequate for the number of guests. We ate in the hotel restaurant, Cova Negra, twice during our 5 night stay, once on our anniversary when we had lobster. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. We had drinks in the lovely bar before & after our meal, but it was empty - only us in there - so lacked a bit of atmosphere. I’m afraid we were disappointed with the buffet breakfast, poor selection and only a few hot egg dishes and if we stayed again, don’t think we’d bother with it. The ladies on reception are all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in the town of Capdepera which has a beautiful castle, a few shops, bars and cafes. Nearest beach resort is Cala Rajada but it is a drive away. Only complaint was that our stay was marred slightly by the couple in room 210 who didn’t seem to care who heard their noise (and if you pick that room ask for the water to be changed in the hot tub)!

Wow, wow, wow. Hotel Creu de Tau Art & Spa is absolutely amazing. I am so happy I listed to the Trip Advisor reviewers and stayed here in the small town of Capdepera. The hotel was absolutely beautiful -- elegant decor in a thoughtfully renovated space that combined Mediterranean charm, history and comfort. The staff were warm and welcoming, offering local restaurant and sightseeing recommendations, giving us a tour of the hotel, and showing us to our room. Our room was gorgeous -- large, bright, comfortable, and even high tech. The breakfast was also amazing -- plentiful and delicious while enjoying a beautiful view from the patio. The pool area and grounds were lovely too. And there was an easy parking lot just for the hotel. Capdepera was a convenient place to stay to easily tour the area -- a quaint town in its own right with the majestic castle overlooking it all. I highly recommend this hotel -- it's like a second castle in Capdepera!
