The hotel itself is majestic. The entrance with the green leaves trickling off the arched awning is reminiscent to a scene in a movie. The room was elegant and had a classic homie feel. The hotel is located at the heart of the nightlife. Close to so many cool bars like The drinkery, House of Machine, and Art of Duplicity(amazing hidden jazz bar). The staff was welcoming and always smiled, but there was a moment on the second day as I walked up the beautifully carpeted stairway leading to my room where I got confronted about whether I was a guest or not. Besides that moment, everyone was nice.

Great location, very handy for city bowl and great restaurants on the doorstep in Heritage Square. Nice friendly staff, comfortable bed, other furniture a little tired but very good value overall. Would book again.

An understated hotel. The service was exceptional with staff who were delighted to give excellent service. Only downside was no lift so could be a problem for severely mobility compromised guests though staff carried luggage from cab to room.

Great find by the travel agent, in a good position for exploring Cape Town. Very old building, 1771 , so quirky but fully upgraded to modern living. Wonderful courtyard garden which also has a bar so don't go to bed early. Staff excellent, breakfast good and cheap so not worth searching out to save the extra £1. Organised taxis from the airport and to the port . Couldn't do enough for us and small so not overwhelmed by visitors.

The hotel staff are so friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is so much better than we expected with lots of tasteful bars and restaurants very close by. The bedroom was really lovely , clean, and good size with large bathroom. Highly recommend.

Well located hotel. Nearby restaurants and ATMs, outdoor markets Staff very friendly and helpful. This hotel is full of charm, local artwork, and vintage furniture. Has updated bathrooms, hot shower with rain showerhead. Toiletries provided. Bed and pillows are very comfortable. Clean soft fresh sheets and fluffy white towels. A/C works well. There is a TV, fridge, minibar. Minimal noise from the street so there must be some soundproofing. Internet is excellent. There is no elevator but staff is always available to carry luggage. Included breakfast was fantastic. You can order one of 10 egg dishes from the menu, including Eggs Benedict, Eggs Florentine, Spanish omelet, and several others. Plus there is also a Continental buffet with several cheeses, artesanal breads, sliced meats, cut up fruit, yogurt and granola, other cereals, coffee, tea, fruit juices.

This hotel is a feast for the eyes with many art works and fixtures. Our room had a four poster bed and the decor was like a colonial stately home. Beautiful. The staff were on the whole warm and friendly and super attentive. Breakfast could be eaten in a quaint courtyard boasting an ancient vine dating back to the 1800’s. One of the tastiest breakfasts I’ve eaten and so well presented. When we arrived it was the first Thursday celebrations. This hotel was part of the art trail with an exhibition on in the front two main rooms. The celebrations are akin to those of new year and continue late into the night. Be warned that hotel is in the heart of the city and the noise at night for us was very unsettling ( you are given complimentary ear plugs). Granted we stayed over a weekend and by Sunday things had settled. On the plus side there are great bars, cafes and restaurants at your doorstep

The staff and service was excellent! Be sure to have breakfast - the food and service is impeccable. Our room was very comfortable; the bathroom was upgraded. The V&A Waterfront is walkable (20-25 minutes) during the day. The area around the hotel is quite safe, but being in the CBD there are homeless people begging. The hotel arranged hotel transfers to and from the airport at a reasonable price. Our room was on the street side, so it was a bit loud at night - nothing a white noise machine can't drown out. Easy access to bars & restaurants in the square.

The accommodations were very nice and the staff was so helpful and friendly. We had a late flight and they allowed us to keep our room till 4:30 in the afternoon at no extra charge! The breakfasts provided were awesome and I can’t say enough good things about the hotel and the people. So accommodating!!!!
