Derwent House

Stopped over in Cape Town on our way back to Atlanta from Safari in South Africa and had the most amazing stay at the Derwent House. From the location to the afternoon Gin bar and snacks to the made to order breakfast in the morning we had a great stay at the hotel. The room and views were excellent and great shopping and dinning were an easy walk from the hotel. As good as all that was the best part of our stay was the people, we couldn't have been better taken care. Booking was easy and communication leading up to our stay was excellent. The Derwent House has become our go to location to stay when travelling in or out of South Africa. Cape Town in amazing and there is no better place to stay than Derwent House!

After a long trip from USA, we were met with kindness and nice, and much needed, glass of wine at reception. Our room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a lovely location and very conveniently located, both by foot and Uber. The breakfasts were delicious, the staff pleasant, and we loved the happy hour cakes, snacks, and the honor bar was welcoming. We spent 3 nights at the Derwent House before moving on. We wouldn't stay anywhere else next time in Cape Town.

This is a wonderful boutique hotel in the Garden District. We loved everything about our stay there. Luca, Patience and the entire staff took such great care of us. We parked our car in the secured area for our 4 day stay and we walked or took an Uber everywhere. The food at breakfast was delicious and the courtesy bar was such a wonderful touch to come back to in the evening. The sitting room was so cozy and the fire kept us warm in the cool nights. We walked to dinner every night to the most amazing restaurants. We live in the Boston area and just fell in love with the culinary scene in Cape Town. The room was spacious and very comfortable, we were in the main house in one of the Beautiful class of accommodations. We were in South Africa for 2 weeks in July and this was our favorite hotel hands down that we stayed at. We are building a catamaran in Knysna and can't wait to return to this hotel on our next trip in March.

I often accompany my husband when he travels on business and we enjoy staying at smaller hotels. Derwent House Boutique Hotel did not disappoint. The hotel felt more like home than a hotel. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable and well appointed with a gorgeous swimming pool and beautiful views of Table mountain. Luca and his team could not have been more friendly and helpful. They offered great advice on what to do and where to go on my own while hubby was working. Afternoon tea and the gin bar were a wonderful "welcome home "after a long day out sight seeing. There are wonderful restaurants in walking distance from the hotel and we felt perfectly safe in the area at all times.

The Derwent House is a lovely Cape Town boutique hotel that we highly recommend. Our room was very nice but what really separates Derwent House is the excellent, highly welcoming service from a fantastic staff plus the layout of the complete location – breakfast dining area, pool, etc. Special thanks to Luca and team for proactively offering a late afternoon check-out allowing us to clean up before our departure to the airport following a final touring day. The team also provided great info and communications prior to our arrival. Last, we’re glad we chose the Derwent House in “the Gardens” area which provided a somewhat less touristy, more local experience including nice local restaurants, etc.

People that care about your experience, people that hear what you say and help you that is the Derwent. Shay the recently hired manager though you wouldn’t know that was a delight with suggestions and insight. Luka the main guy was easy to talk to and also wanted to help. I promise you will leave and do exactly what I’m doing leaving my first review of my life.

First class service at every turn. A glass of wine at check in with a warm fire. Then a great dinner recommendation a five minute walk way. Returned From dinner with a night cap waiting and a hot water bottle in our bed. They helped set up a day tour with Roger which was fantastic and also assisted with our wine tram trip. It is a beautiful, relaxing oasis from the stress of traveling. Thanks for making our trip to Cape Town nothing short of amazing. A special shout out to Luca and the delightful woman that helps during the evening. My apologies for not remembering her name.

Wonderful accommodation's. The staff however steals the show! Friendly, they make you feel right at home from the moment you enter their beautiful boutique quarter's. Perhaps one of the best breakfasts I have had in my travels across the globe. They provide a nice selection of home baked cakes, cookies, breads and local wines in the afternoon and evening.

A delight of a hotel! Wonderful, colorful furnishings, both in the public spaces and the bedrooms. Clean and spacious bathroom. Delicious breakfast featuring both complete cold bar and selected hot items. Nice happy hour. They always have cakes and baked items available for snacks in the afternoon and evening. Staff is exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Beautiful pool area.
