Amazing winter special; a fraction of usual rate. Huge 70 sq m suite with lovely veranda overlooking the sea. Very friendly staff. The entire place has an amazing ambiance. Was very quiet with few guests, but this is also great in a way as then one can really relax. Walking distance to hippie chic Kalk Bay. Not long drive from stunning Cape Point Nature reserve. For such a posh establishment, the breakfast options are very basic. I suggest to serve bigger portions of fresh orange juice, fruit salad and yogurt, and add more fillings to the omelette. WiFi also very poor in rooms, have to sit in office upstairs or in downstairs areas for good reception.

If you want high quality standard around St James, the Seaforth is a good choice. Somewhat apart from the main manor, but with a much more modern setup. Like a huge beachfront villa basically, but with 3 room that are rented out. We had the place to ourselves the first night, felt absolutely right. Great service, the manager welcomed us and introduced us to the place. Good attention also later, but this place is for those who want to be a bit private. All inclusive, and with a chef making breakfast in the morning. Highly recommended! Only 5-6 minutes walk to the Dalebrook pool and into Kalk Bay. 2 minutes walk from the St James station. Go for the Farmer suite which faces the beach.

We spent one night here. It certainly encapsulates old-world charm. I can’t remember how long ago we experienced a “turndown” service! The amenities were lovely, with a very spacious bathroom and bedroom, including a reading nook. In warm weather the pool area must be so relaxing. When we went into Kalk Bay for dinner we opted to drive as it’s about a kilometer to walk, which isn’t far or unsafe, just a preference really. We enjoyed the breakfast and would recommend a stay here. Thank you to the team for their hospitality.

We have just arrived back into the UK after an amazing holiday in South Africa We were lucky enough to experience both the St James Manor House and Homestead Villa the following week for our family Birthday Party Both are owned by the Rovos Rail Group Clive, Dene and all the staff looking after both properties, went out of their way to give us a wonderful time in both places The guest house is lovely, small but so personal. The breakfast was wonderful and they even had an honesty bar where you can socialise and chat to other guests The Villa was absolutely fabulous although I feel the website photos don't do it the justice it deserves. Each of the six bedrooms are massive suites with a huge living space, spectacular beds and bathrooms The living spaces are on the ground floor looking out to sea and the upper level also with a balcony and a sea view We actually spotted a couple of dolphins whilst sitting on the spacious terrace We used the pool and rear outside spaces when it was good weather Everyone had special memories to take home We would highly recommend the Villa for a larger group We had the best time in both accommodations Thank you all xx

You will not regret staying at St James Manor. From the moment we arrived we felt at home and welcome. The atmosphere is tranquil and relaxing and the staff are very friendly, happy in their jobs and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast was excellent too. St James is also an ideal base for exploring the Cape Peninsula

A Gem of a Small Hotel! My husband and I spent 6 delightful nights at The St James Manor Guest House over the New Year …. We loved every moment of our stay and cannot wait to return . The Manor House is beautifully furnished with antiques and the understated service is perfect - ones every need is quietly catered for ! The large suites are exquisite and the peace and quiet of the setting between the mountain and the sea is perfect ! Dene and her small team are unobtrusively present for your every need We shall hopefully be back very soon
