Quinta do Monteverde

We arrived and when they opened the massive gate, I was favorably impressed with the setting. It truly is an oasis from the surrounding area. We were in the patio room on the first floor, which was a bit small but had a nice patio with chairs and love seat outside. The floors were hardwood. The owner and Vanessa were very accommodating. Our room had no air conditioning, but remained cool. The breakfast was exceptional. We were so pleased to have stayed here.

Felt like Ojai when we came through the grand doors , quaint cottage feel, perfect pool Day..the bar area is lovely, AC worked great in our room, we could wash a few things and lay them to dry.. it was a bit of hike off and then back to the Camino..but sooo worth it ! Would’ve loved to have just stayed forever. Thank you Vanessa for your hospitality .. love to return here..it’s a special place tucked away ..absolutely gorgeous .

Wonderful stay with fantastic owner and staff. The rooms were so comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Six of us were hiking the Camino when one of us became ill. Fatima, the owner, and Vanessa could not do enough to help us find excellent health care. They worked with Portugal Greenwalks, our trip planner and recommended we go to a private hospital in Viana do Castelo since we only spoke English. Vanessa arranged for a taxi to take us there where excellent treatment was provided. We highly recommend this hotel!

This was our family’s 2nd stay at this wonderful quinta, located in the lovely Castelo do Nieva with its excellent restaurants and gorgeous beach. The staff at the quinta are friendly and accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. We stayed in the main house on this occasion, and the rooms were spacious and spotless. We were fortunate to have a private lounge area between our rooms which gave us space to come together and play card games etc. The gardens at the Quinta are beautifully kept and there are ample places to sit and relax outside. The games room is fantastic if the weather is inclement. The breakfast has a vast selection of fruits, breads, cheeses and meats as well as hot offerings. It is quite the feast and served in the grandest dining room. We are already planning our next stay at Quinta do Monteverde.

What a brilliant overnight stay. Small personality run hotel. Beautiful surroundings stunning decor atmospheric who could ask for more? Very quiet(other than church bell’s which don’t ring all night) Like staying in your own stately home

A historic house from the 15c, beautifully maintained and restored (ask the proprietor about the renovation of the lower floor!) with magnificent grounds and facilities and all the trimmings plus a great breakfast. Ask for advice on the best seafood restaurants. I give it 10/5. - never bettered in our travels through Portugal.
