What a hidden gem! A beautiful Big 4 Holiday Park set on a hill overlooking the Castlemaine Botanic Gardens and bush land with huge stands of gumtrees and pines…. magnificent! Walking tracks meander through the bush and the beautifully landscaped gardens are equivalent to the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne.. The amenities, although not new, are kept scrupulously clean and the showers are piping hot! The staff are friendly and welcoming… I will definitely be returning to stay at this park again and spend a little longer in this wonderful town …

This is the cleanest and tidiest big4 campsite we have been to. It’s smaller than some but so picturesque. Castlemaine is a delight, so much to see in the area. The campsite itself is in a perfect location for exploring or just staying out and relaxing. The botanical gardens are right next door with a cool playground. The public pool is next door and huge. There’s a pub across the way with a great atmosphere, fab cocktails and food and entertainment for the whole family. The mill markets and all they have to offer are also on the doorstep. The camp kitchen is perfect, we only used one shower block but it was pristine, someone told us the other is even better. The games room had a little bit of something for everyone. For a small caravan park, it packed a lot of punch. We will be returning very very soon.

With a last minute decision to go to Castlemaine we booked into the BIG 4 caravan park. Beautiful river behind our powered campsite. Kangaroos for visiting us at our van was awesome as were the locals ( magpies) kookaburras and SO PEACEFUL AND QUIET. Would I stay here again….1000%. Amenities are spotless. Reception ( although it was after hours when we arrived nothing was a problem). Dogs are allowed at THIS big 4 but NOT inside the cabins. Caravans and camping YES PROVIDED THEY ARE ON A LEASH. ONE DOWNSIDE IS AT NIGHTTIME ONLY, arriving in the dark it’s near impossible to see your lot number. We accidentally parked in the wrong spot but reception fixed it for us. Heated swimming pool. Go carts are readily accessible for running people down . EVERYTHING IS AVAILABLE FOR YOU TO MAXIMISE YOUR WONDROUS EXPERIENCE. 10/10. Next time will be a powered site with ensuite

Lovely caravan park close to town and the gardens. The cabin was clean and well maintained, it had all you could need for a weekend away. The owners where friendly and helpful, easy check in and out and great information on how to check in after hours through texts.

Four couples, two in caravans, two sharing an onsite villa, what could go wrong? Absolutely nothing! We had long planned a week long stay in beautiful Castlemaine to coincide with their wonderful garden festival. Lots to do beyond garden visits.. great pubs, dining and unique markets and shops. Big 4 was a great base, with fantastic clean and fully appointed facilities, great staff with enthusiastic local knowledge and pride.

What a lovely caravan park. Paid extra for an ensuite powered site - well worth the expense. Brand new facilities with bathmat, hand towel & liquid soap supplied. Best by far that we’ve encountered out of the 4 we’ve booked on our travels. Easy access to Botanical Gardens from within the park. 5 min walk to The Bridge Hotel for a great meal or The Mill has other options. Flat 15 min walk to Railway Station or Railway Hotel. Great caravan park, beautiful town - hope to return some day.

The receptionist went above and beyond helping with our train tickets. Cabin was clean and had all we required. Only suggestion would be more power point possible on the wall behind the hotplates. Central location and great choice of places to eat

Nice friendly staff, great amenities, beds in cabins were very nice, clean and comfortable staff left the heater on for me so it was nice and cosy upon arrival great accomadation it was very cosy in this cold weather,great for kids too games room, camp kitchen caravan park is well cared for and very tudy, it has a big lake and gardens next door to caravan park! I will stay again! Thanks!

Friendly staff , clean amenities , easy walk to quality food and drinks across the road , loved our stay here , walk through botanical gardens next door , Austrian cafe an absoute must , brewery , winery cellar door , bakery and provedore all excellent , so much gold rush history to explore in this area
