Katane Palace Hotel

This hotel looks wonderful in the owners' photos, full of character and Italian charm. However, in reality, it is very tired looking and not at all what we would consider to be a 4 star hotel. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the sheets are crisp, but the old shower is like something you'd get in student accommodation with plastic doors. The bedside table lamps are frayed, the wooden vanity unit is stained, and the curtains are old. Also, the beautiful courtyard that attracted us to this hotel in the first place, has a massive big metal emergency exit staircase overlooking it. This totally spoils the ambience and is omitted from all the professional photos. So, obviously it's a shock when you arrive and see what's actually there. However, the staff are very friendly and the buffet breakfast was lovely. We could choose from cereal, fruit, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, salami, cheese, bread rolls & croissants etc.

We had a fabulous time at the Katane hotel in Catania. The staff were most attentive and made us feel special. Thanks to Santo and Letizia who went well above expectations. Santo went out of his way to help us and deserves a gold star!! Every time we had a question or problem he helped with a happy smile!

Quiet location, but close enough to walk to the main attractions and transport hubs. This clean, we’ll run hotel had friendly, helpful staff. Room was large, clean and good value. Nice variety of breakfast options. I can’t think of any negative comments, would definitely recommend and stay again.

The hotel is moderate by all means. The staff is friendly and helpful. Our first room was extremely noisy -401, we got a good replacement. Location is not so good. Prices are OK. Minibar was fre, but the refrigerator was not working. Should be booked only if there is no alternative

A very nice and clean hotel. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was of a good size and had all amenities. The location is excellent - close to many good restaurants and just a 10 minute walk to Piazza del Duomo. I strongly recommend and will definitely stay again on my future visits to Catania.

Excellent location and price for accommodations, also included breakfast. 7 min walk to Bellini Park and main shopping street. The outside of hotel not impressive , however ones inside a lovely court area. Room very comfortable a/c available which was not needed in May.. Front desk staff very helpful.

We have stayed here every year for the last 7 years and love this hotel. When you first arrive, the entrance is in a side street which is not too appealing; don't worry because the interior is lovely. The aircon works, the bar is comfortable with a good range of beers and wines (and you have to ask Letitzia NOT to bring out snacks or she brings a load - not good if its just before dinner!) and we love the courtyard to just sit in and enjoy a quiet drink. The breakfast is a very good buffet - not as extensive as we've seen in other places, but more than enough for anyone. You can ask for coffee (I love Davids and Antonio's cappucinos) rather than using the coffee machine. The rooms are large, clean and feel very spacious and we like the rooms overlooking the street at the back. The bathroom/ toilet is excellent and there is a bidet which my wife absolutely loves! there is a fridge in the rooms with water and juice. The staff could not be nicer or more friendly, or more helpful - they really make the hotel. On reception, I'd say that Suzy has the best English, but Valeria and Lucia are both fine - just with more of an accent:) The hotel location is excellent; you are an easy 10 - 15 minute stroll to the market and on to Via Etnea from there; the other way - 15-20 minute stroll to the railway or bus stations. There are a lot of good cafes and restaurants in close vicinity. How much do we love this hotel? As I said, we stay every year for the last 7 years for about 2 weeks; I'm a member of the Accor Hotel Group rewards scheme and there are a number of Accor group hotels in the vicinity - good ones. We still choose Katane Palace every time and are looking forward to staying there again next year.

The Katane Palace Hotel is in a privileged place. It is minutes from the center and minutes from “Via Filomena” where you will find the best restaurants in Catania. The employees are super helpful and friendly. The air conditioning works great. Although we ate outside the hotel, there was one day when we decided to dine at the hotel restaurant and the menu was quite limited. The menu even included foods that were not available. Although the facilities and rooms are adequate, they could fix some details such as restoring the doors and their knobs, the tables and chairs in the restaurant, and the sofas in the reception. They are details, but in general I recommend it and give it a 4.
