Excellent vacation on a beautiful beach of Cayo Santa Maria. The resort was great, cameral without being small, spacious room with the garden view, clean and well furnished. Staff was very accomodating. Great salsa lessons from Victor and Jorge! Food was suprisingly good considering Cuban restrictions. There was just a couple of days without eggs, but bread, cheese, deli meats and fruits were always available. Also we had some mussels, fish and as usual excellent chicken. Our favourite à la carte was Corillo. Also would recommand sandwiches in the snack bar. My only regret: the natural kefir, so fantastic in Cuba has completely disapeared! We had milk, but no kefir. Spanish wines, selection of spirits and coffee were also fine. I would only suggest to bring some paprica and spices if you like your food well spiced. We also hire a taxi to go to Santa Clara. We decided to go on Sunday to see in the morning the interior of the church in Remedios. Amazing golden altar! We also saw on the way a very interesting local farmer market in Camajuani. We were the only tourists there. Visiting Santa Clara on Sunday was fatastic. A lot of locals came out for a walk, but shops were still open. We recommand El Sol restaurant for your meal. Great lobsters and galician wines. In general, we spent a great week and will certainly be back next year.

You want a great vacation; you have got to go here. Just returned after a beautiful 2 weeks. The weather was between 22 – 32 degrees sun & cloud, two windy days, no rain. Bus ride about 1 ¾ hours to the hotel, depending on the number of horse and carts to negotiate on route. The trip to the Cayo takes you through 3 towns and then on to a 48km causeway built across the sea. Greeted at the hotel with a nice cool refreshing drink. Check in was fast, we were soon taken to our room. Room excellent, nice and clean, different towel art everyday. The beach is fabulous, some days waves, some days calm. Ample beach loungers and palapas available. Beach staff will help you find your favorite spot in the Mornings when you arrive Two large well-kept walk-in pools, one having a swim up bar, nice and sheltered for those windy Caribbean days. Pool staff are quick to find you loungers by the pool, no need to reserve spots with your towel, here! I’m not going to name any staff here for fear of missing someone out, every member of staff here are the best friendliest people you will ever meet. Get to know their names, you will love them. Cuba is going through a tough time right now with power outages and shortages, yet the staff continue to greet you with a smile every day. It’s sad that the misconception of the power issues has kept people away from this paradise. Cayo Santa Maria has its own power plant on the island, so there are no power problems here. Menu’s may change, and some food items may not be available on a day-to-day basis, but there is always plenty to eat. We went to all the available Al a Carte restaurants during our stay, all exceptional. The Melia Cayo Santa Maria is one of the best hotels on the island, reflected by the number of returning guests every year. We will be back for our 12th time in the spring, can’t wait. It was great experrience! The hotel have the most beautiful beach in the whole island. Food is very very good, much better then in rest of the Cuba. Bartenders in the lobby are 5 stars. They have great doctor. And at the end the manager of the hotel is amazing, everything we wont he menage to fulfill.

Had an amazing stay at Melia Cayo Santa Maria. We were there from New Year's Eve for 7 days. I booked this resort after doing my research. I wanted a smaller resort where it is easy to navigate. Our room was in the middle of everything, the 24-hour snack bar, the lobby, beach, and we were given the pool view room. The staff are very helpful, hardworking, friendly, kind, all the positives. There was no shortage of food or toilet paper. There was only a shortage of days to enjoy this amazing resort. They have bottled water, toilet paper, ketchup, eggs, bacon, beach towels, whatever you need. You will never go hungry. The day is too short to eat all the food. Don't miss the beach walk to the left side where you will find so many shells. That was truly an awesome experience. We loved watching the pelicans dive for food. If you want a guaranteed best vacation with good service, book this resort; you won't regret it. am already recommending this resort to my family and friends. I will definitely go back to this resort. Thank you, Melia Cayo Santa Maria, for an amazing vacation.

Beautiful week . the staff was absolutely amazing . Best coffee I have ever had . Would definitely return . Great salsa lessons with Victor at hotel and on the beach . Giovanni helped our group the whole week with our tennis skills I would rate hotel more like a 4 stars than a 5 stars

Excellent hotel on a beautiful beach - the jewel in its crown. We had an amazing suite - huge! The staff couldn’t do enough, but I have to give a special mention to Mary, the customer services manager. She was exceptional. Well done to Love Cuba and rep Smeikel who was also excellent.

Very good experience and I saw improvement in few areas. I visited this hotel about a year ago. Beach is just a best selling feature of this hotel. Nice fine sand and clean, wide with nice vball court. Activities by entertainment crew starting at 10:30 stretching, 11 vball and 1130 dance ... afternoon are activities at the pool, dancing or rum tasting, cigars rolling.. kids club open all day long, mini disco before night show was good for kids who wants to participate. Babysitying services available too. In general i like entertainment in this melia hotel, it was nice to know the activities same time every day. Entertainers very nice and trying hard to include clients and advertise next activity. Entertainment managers has a good group working hard. Rooms are spacious but it is an older hotel so dont expect super modern place. Always clean. Grounds are nice, lot of mature trees and plenty of shade. No power outages, no water shortage either. Food was above expectations. Main restaurant i saw major improvement with salad options and grilled meat, fried rice ...pasta and deserts. Always 2 kinds of soup. The only downside was no grill at the beach... with that view it is a shame not to sit there and enjoy. This time of year no bugs or flies at all. Do not pick this hotel, ants all over the bedroom and bathroom especially, i got bit by either bed bugs or the ants in my bed. Hardly enough toilette paper, no face clothes. The bedrooms are fare from being a 5 star,i would say a 3 star at its best. They rooms are in need of major repair, toilet hardly flushes, stains on towels. Only 220 voltage, be careful if plugging in outlet. My next door friends had cockroaches in there room. The food was not great. A la carte, forget about it, the resto. is sometimes open sometimes not from day to day. We got there the first day A la carte was already full for the weekend, as its all small restaurants. Everyday is the same thing in the buffet. Breakfast was good, thank god for omelettes. The snack bar is not much, only a couple items available, until they run out of stuff. Do not fly with Sunwing, horrible airline, will not go into details. Flies all over the buffet and restaurant constantly. The pictures are very deceiving, its looks good far away, but close up is not attractive. Activities there is none. The beach is nice.
