Holiday Inn & Suites Cedar Falls-Waterloo Event Ctr

This is a very nice place. I believe it is about five years old. Our room was clean, safe and the television and a/c were spot on. The bathroom is surprisingly small but the shower is awesome. The TV controls actually make sense. We slept well. What stood out for us was the food service/breakfast. Needs a little work OR maybe just another set of eyes or new ideas. For a place this nice this was a surprising weakness. The buffet was almost exactly the same every day—every day. Zero imagination . Plus, they ran out of food. Nobody seemed to be checking to see how things were going out there. They even ran out of breakfast coffee. Signage in the eating area was really lacking but our group figured out that we had to bus our own tables because nobody from their staff would—-again, JUST TELL US. We are adults. We found where to stack the plates, silverware, etc. I guess that’s where they wanted us to put that stuff. Absolutely no signage. Lot to like here and if the food service /breakfast were improved it would be even better.

We stayed here for a weekend soccer tournament. The hotel was as expected, and full of kids. Cons: smallish pool, no hot tub, no free breakfast— all of which would be nice for teams. Pro: pullout sofa in room to help accommodate parents and kids. Right next to a gas station. Otherwise unmemorable.

The hotel was very clean. Rooms were large. Beds were very comfortable. Spacious shower. Lots of outlets and USB ports in the room. The blow dryer in our room smelled very hot when turned on. I told them at the desk upon checkout and they had someone replace it immediately. Check in process was very easy. We would stay here again.

Our family of 5 had a great stay here after a day at Lost Island Waterpark. The hotel looks new and the lobby area and general layout are very nice. We stayed in the 2 queen suite and it was perfect for us. The pullout sofa is in a separate area so our older kid had a space to go and be separated from the rest of us when it was time for bed. We liked the pool, and really enjoyed the shuffleboard and pool table--that was such a nice touch to the evening! We had great customer service.

Front desk person was very nice and got us checked in quickly We liked our large, king bed room with couch. Everything was clean and quiet. There were only 2 bath towels & 2 wash cloths so did have to ask for more at the front desk. Also, just FYI, the room was not refreshed for second night which was okay with us. Nice workout room and pool. Breakfast is not included but there is a restaurant in the hotel. Dairy Queen is across the parking lot. Would definitely stay here again.

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times for business. Never had an issue. This time… a/c not working… asked for a different room… said they had no other rooms… talking with the front desk and the manager was not helpful… Allison’s idea of customer service is to encourage me to go somewhere else and mutter things under her breath. Spoke with the manager the next day… asked for it to be resolved. No follow up… walked into the room after they “fixed” it… set to 60 (them not me)… room was in the 70s…. Told by Allison that the room was comfortable and that I should just get off the property. Nick.. the manager… never followed up… I figured it should be resolved. Absolutely nothing to try to resolve except for telling me it’s fixed… Will NEVER stay at this hotel again. I Travel most weeks. Have stayed in hotels all over the country and never been treated in this way…. Will NEVER stay at a holiday inn again. Things happen… I get that… after working 18 hours I don’t think that I should need to deal with an organization that doesn’t care. Wow… have standards gone done….. it’s just sad.
