Calanica Resort

This resort is in the perfect location with amazing views as well as being quiet. There are 26 bungalows which are perfect for a no frill hotel . Bed is king size bungalows are clean with a small shower room . We did a bed and breakfast basis as we love to explore the area and eat in various places . Cefalu itself is a 35 minute walk along a lovely scenic path down to a long Sandy beach into Cefalu itself . Plenty of places to eat and a lovely place to spend hours just looking at the various streets shops and the beautiful cathedral. Recommendations 1. Take the train from Cefalu to Palermo ( 14 euro return) explore great day out beautiful opera house and cathedral 2. Do the NO MAFIA tour with Viator. Excellent 3. Visit the Madonie mountains and a town called Sans Mauro Castelverde 4 . Enjoy an aperol spritz 5 . This hotel would NOT be for people with mobility issues Would definitely recommend and we will be back one day

We spend the whole holiday in one hotel, the Hotel Calanica Resort in Cefalù. The resort has 26 bungalows, inspired by the Polynesian huts, but comfortable and furnished like a modern hotel room overlooking the sea. The bungalows were cute and very clean. They offer enough space, and the view of the sea was fantastic. There is a small table with two chairs in front of the entrance. I could just sit there for hours and watch the sea. The only small drawback was the shower. It could have worked a little better. The restaurant and bar were great. The food was very tasty and the service was very friendly. Although we were told before the holiday that Sicilians are not always so friendly, I can say the opposite from my own experience. The beach doesn't get full marks for me. The view is great, the sun loungers and parasols were also very good, but the location was not quite ideal. There was no direct access to the sea. You had to keep going up the stairs and down the other side to get into the sea. It wasn't bad, but I think there is still room for improvement.

Great bungalows, amazing views, beautiful sunset, nice beach swimming and beach bar. Not too far from Cefalù town though much easier if you have a car. Maybe avoid the onsite bar/restaurant as you’re kind of “captive” so the service and food are pretty average and over priced. Other options around including a nice pizza place on the site near the swimming pool and then there is Cefalù itself with lots of better quality restaurants.

We have just returned from a 1 week stay here and have only good things to say about this hotel. It is located back from the road down a long driveway and is located on the side of the cliffs. There is a railway line that runs directly behind the back of the hotel but trains pass only about once an hour, it was never an issue and we found it to be quite quiet. The lodges are located on the edge of the cliffs so for someone with mobility issues this could be a problem. There are lots of stairs and sloped paths to access all areas. Each room is a detached hut/lodge with its own balcony area. Our room was number 24, on the 2nd row down from the top. It had the most amazing views! The lodge itself is clean and modern, it has a good bathroom with shower, hairdryer and some toiletries. There is a safe and small kitchenette which unfortunately did not have a kettle, there was a cooker hob, sink, fridge and some utensils. It has A/C. There is access to the beach, some parts are large pebbles but there is a sandy section. There are 2 areas with loungers, we weren't there at peak time so we never had trouble finding a lounger. There was a beach bar but we never used it. Also there are tennis courts and a pool which are located behind the hotel. There is a restaurant on site, I have to complement the restaurant staff as the buffet breakfast was superb. So much choice, with omlettes and eggs made to order. Very friendly staff. We ate there in the evening on 2 occasions and the evening food was good. The hotel is a 30ish minute walk from the lovely town of Cefalu which has lots of great restaurants. Quite a pleasant walk except for the hill to get down and back up 😆 There is a shop on the main road near the hotels entrance if you need it. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a lovely stay so would recommend this hotel.

We first visited you in 2018 and decided to come back this year and were delighted to find out that things - and staff! - were just the same❣️That is: excellent. We will be back - again. Really nice hotel set in the hillside with great views across the sea. Around 30 well appointed individual bungalows with kitchen, fridge and TV. Staff were super friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfast was excellent with wide choice and the 2 lunchtime meals we had were good. Due to the setting and number of steps it could be a little challenging for some but worth it for the daily workout and great view. Walk into Cefalu was around 30mins where we found a number of excellent restaurants and bars. Had a great relaxing week in this friendly hotel.
