There are a lot of good things about the Lesar Hotel Angel. We checked in late in the evening, it was very smooth and efficient and we were helped to our room. Our bags being carried by the receptionist/porter. There are a lot of stairs in this hotel so if mobility is an issue I would think about booking this hotel, it’s a lovely old building but built on a slope so its narrow but high and stairs are the only way to move about the hotel. The location of the hotel is perfect, with lots of shops and restaurants close by, and most of the main tourist attractions a short stroll away. It is located directly below Ljubljana Castle. The Lesar Hotel Angel is in a pedestrian zone, but taxi pick up/drop offs are from a square one block away so walking with bags shouldn’t be an issue. The reception is not manned all the time, there is no one from the hotel after 10pm until the morning. If there is an issue you have to call a number on the key card, so hopefully there is not an immediate emergency at this time. The front door is accessible through your key card when there is no one at reception. The staff at reception are very helpful and can arrange taxis and give advice, but failed to tell us it was a national holiday during our stay and that some places would be closed, until the actual day. This would have been useful. Check out was smooth and efficient. You need to pay a tourist tax when you go. Our room was large, particularly the bathroom with a double sink and walk in shower. There were plenty of shelves to put your items on, particularly by the sink, and a large mirror plus shaving/make up mirror. The hot water took some time to come through though, particularly in the shower. There was also no plug in the sink so you could not fill it up. We had a TV with some international channels, coffee and tea making facilities and multiple glasses, a fridge (which gave off quite a lot of heat) with complimentary still and sparkling water, comfortable king-sized bed and a large wardrobe, but not any shelves. There was good lighting which was easy to figure out. If you like this minimalism this hotel and room are not for you, as there are a lot of ornaments and chairs everywhere, which made the room a nice place to sit, but quite busy in feel. There are a lot of sockets for personal items. There was air conditioning, but it was not powerful and it may struggle to keep you cool in the summer. The room also contained a cupboard with two safes in it, one on the top shelf that didn’t work, and a second one on the bottom shelf which did work but was hard to access without crouching down. Why the broken safe was not removed is odd. Housekeeping was not consistent, the carpet on the floor had various stains by the coffee machine, toiletries were not always replenished or dirty glasses replaced. There is a nice lounge area that is accessible at all times, water, fruit and cake are left there on a help yourself basis, but the selection is erratic and not consistent. B

While waiting to depart to Ljubljana , we received a welcome email. Less than an hour later, we received a court email explaining that they had technical difficulties and our room was no longer available! What! We had booked in December and corresponded a few times. I am still waiting for an email reply asking what the technical difficulties were as the desk person had no idea. It was most likely overbooking and no sense of priority for a very early booking - and late September no less. They did arrange for a room across the street at the Allegro which didn’t even come close to their supposed 4 star rating as our room was put back and up metal stairs to an old and pricy room with 1970s fixtures. We had done a lot of research and we’re looking forward to a nice stay at the Lesar only to be stiffed. We did luck out with the parking and got the last spot in RUK II and otherwise loved the location and the city. Not a great first night stay however. We travel a lot and never experienced such an unexplained dis.

Gorgeous hotel, beautiful room, helpful, friendly staff and the perfect location for visiting Lubijana. Comfortable bed and fantastic shower. It is a verry interesting old building with some quirky interior design which we liked The breakfasts were delicious.

The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was high quality and generous, with fruit and pastries available throughout the day. The staff were polite and very helpful, both during the booking process and after arrival. Overall we had a lovely stay and would love to come back.

This was our first stay in Ljubljana and we are really pleased with our choice of hotel. We stayed 2 nights. The weather was warm and the efficient air conditioning was well appreciated. Our room was available for us early and we were contacted so that we were aware. That allowed us to drop off luggage; freshen up a little and head out for a lovely relaxed lunch. We had a classic room which was comfortable but not huge. For 2 nights it as what we wanted. Breakfast was fabulous and there are complimentary snacks available during the day. There is a nice outdoor garden for relaxing. The welcoming staff member helped us with luggage on arrival and ensured that we had a taxi with a fair price on departure. The hotel is located just inside the "do drive" zone so when we arrived we had to walk around 200 m with our bags but when we left the taxi was able to come to the door. We would definitely return.
