Fairfield Inn & Suites Monaca

Stay here when visiting family. Nice hotel and very clean. The young man that takes care of the breakfast area does a fantastic job keeping the food stocked. I have been traveling for 23 years and most times the breakfast area is sparse with food after the busy time is over. This young man makes sure everything is stocked. Only bad this is we had a room above the pool and the music is so loud, it filters into the room. Fortunately, it is turned off at night, but still a minor issue.

Remodeled, modern, very clean Fairfield; bathrooms have walk-in large showers (no grab bars yet when we stayed). Bed was at a good height (not too high). King Room is small, but offers microwave and refrigerator which was on and operating when we arrived. Checked in early and room was ready. Staff was helpful, price was excellent for value; breakfast was usual Marriott breakfast; coffee & tea available 24/7 (nice ). Location was next to Beaver Valley Mall and a good Italian Restaurant.

Comments= Most (not all) staff is rude, little to no storage space (tiny closet, 2 small drawers, tiniest fridge) Some things were 1 star and some 5… so we’ll go with the 3. Staff=C: Hit and miss, see stories below Housekeeping= Hit and miss again. We asked for housekeeping and was agreed every other day for towels, trash and vacuum. We got it around every 3rd only after complaining but the housekeeper we met was nice. Elevator= Only one right behind the front Desk. came with Fridge= Tiniest fridge I’ve ever seen, no freezer (see pic). Wi-Fi= POOR- 4.5D/L Mbps 0.4U/L Mbps Room was Cleanliness- Tv- 2 small TVs (maybe 27 inch) Bed= Comfortable Pillows= Variety in firmness Heating and air= Worked well, needed the constant fan option for the traffic noise. Shower/bath= Good size, no tub, wall mounted soaps. Shower head is fix, no adjustments on the shower head. Well lite= Property is well lite but the room is pretty dark after sunset… Room needs more lights. Laundry= Yes. Machines takes CC. Costs something dumb like $3.79 each. (Forgot to get that pic) Breakfast= Breakfast for the most part is good. Bacon everyday with cling wrapped breads, waffle maker, a fruit (sometimes bananas), juice (cranberry was out the entire week we stayed). PROBLEM: One of the girls was very nice and kept things stocked (the skinny one), the other one you hardly ever saw. Items would run out and one morning didn’t see her and went to the front desk and asked if anyone was working the breakfast… she had to go in the back to get her to come out to do her job. Interaction I watched (same race and gender as the staff): Guest: We don’t have any syrup out (occurred often) Staff: (rudely) I’ll get to it; you are just going to have to wait! Guest: I don’t mind waiting, I’ve been waiting. I was just letting you know. (LOL! Good for her! I almost clapped!) Restaurant= None on site but hotel is very close to several locations. I recommend Bowser’s down the hill (walking distance) for the wings or smoked beef dogs. There is also a pizza place that I’ve never tried down there as well. Business Center= Yes, by the front door. I didn’t use it. Probably not the best spot for a business center but they do have one. View= (see pic) We enjoyed watching the busy intersection. We kept the fan running, so it muffled the traffic noise but if you don’t have it running, you can hear the vehicles with loud exhausts. Pool= Yes, but was out of service every time

The property is close to a major interstate. It can be a bit confusing trying to figure out how to get to the hotel parking lot since you must turn into the parking lot of nearby businesses and drive through those to reach the hotel. There are several restaurants and shopping opportunities conveniently located near the hotel. Check-in was a miserable experience. I used the mobile app to check in on the morning of arrival. I am not sure what the glitch was, but I had to go through the entire check-in process upon arrival. There is one elevator, and the wait time was dependent upon how busy things were. The common areas are spacious but certainly not well-maintained. There was a spill in the elevator and several of the common area garbage cans were overflowing. The first room I was assigned was recently updated. There were ongoing renovations, something I wish I would have known at check-in. This made things a bit noisy and construction dust was abundant. Despite being recently renovated, the room was not ready for occupancy. It may have been cleaned but the staff did an extremely poor job. Discrepancies ranged from debris on the floor to spills on the side of the garbage can. I asked the front desk staff for a different room and was told I would have to wait as no other rooms were ready. I was waiting for a room as were a few others trying to check in. I was eventually assigned another room after one of the front desk staff told me they personally check it. When I checked the room, I discovered the microwave needed to be cleaned and the surfaces needed dusting (I could write my name). I stayed four nights. During the entire stay, it just seemed like there was no one in charge and certainly no one directing the hotel operations. Often, the housekeeping staff was congregating at the front desk socializing with other staff members. Several of the housekeeping staff members I encountered were dressed in street clothes with no indication they were hotel employees. This was a bit uncomfortable from a security perspective. I likely would not stay at this property ever again. While this hotel was located close to where I needed to be, I would rather drive the extra 10-15 miles and stay at a different Marriott.

Monique at the front desk was very helpful! Overall thought the hotel was nice. Small TV, but the microwave and frig were pluses. Breakfast was significantly nicer than expected, including waffles, bacon, and eggs the Saturday morning we were there. One of us has bad allergies, but the hotel does not allow pets, which was a relief. However, there were still bad issues breathing overnight in bed, so *perhaps* the blanket was not freshly washed, which can be an issue for someone with bad dust allergies. Other than this, nice hotel and good value.

I travel for work, this is one of few hotels that made me feel cheap, less than and embarrassed! Usually upon check out I separate the payment(work pays most of it) I pay the difference when I go over budget. Because I asked to split the payment they made me feel cheap and they were wouldn’t split it. It’s mostly their lack of knowledge on how to do so..I’m a platinum elite member so I stay in a lot of hotels but this is the first that’s made me feel embarrassed by talking down to me…never will I stay again! Oh and the manager wasn’t even there, she was late and the guy didn’t want to call her and talked bad about me as I stood there! Unprofessional establishment!

The hotel is clean, safe, modern and very nice. I was here for business and the desk area has multiple outlets- perfect for charging all of my tech. The complimentary breakfast had lots of protein- hard boiled eggs, cheese omelets, ham and veggie omelets, bacon, and yogurt. There was cereal, bagels, muffins, waffles and more. I will definitely stay here again if I’m in the area!
