This hotel is properly marketed as historic - bath down the hall, trains rumbling by, and noise from the theater below, rooms up stairs, We have a long history with this hotel, but things took a nose dive with COVID and my germ phobic requirements increased. It used to be that the second you walked out of a shared bath, it was picked up and cleaned. There were always spare towels and soap and the towel hamper emptied. This time, during my roughly 12 hours there, zero service was done to the bathrooms. Like last year, 1 of 4 bathrooms was "out of service". Coffee now arrives upstairs at 8 and there is no Keurig-type machine, so if you leave before 8, no coffee for you except instant and a hot water container left from the previous day. It was also announced at check in that the back stairwell was closed for renovation, which means apparently 1 stairwell for potential fire escape? Time to return to some very nice less quaint lodging in town that's not much more money.
