My place is a quiet cabin in the woods hidden away just outside of the biggest city in Maine. Peaceful and private. My home is a country getaway with unique charm and has a feeling like no other. Close to downtown Portland, the Portland Jet Port, Freeport, beautiful Maine beaches, apple orchards, a Gorgeous wedding venue a mile away called Caswell Farm and close to trails for hiking or biking, my home has many options nearby. Its the perfect family vacation destination or business trip location. Wedding? It's a great spot for a family of 6 to stay. Looking for a romantic get away weekend? Look no further! Great spot for a honeymoon or anniversary celebration.My place is set back off the road a bit. It has a good size front yard and a large back yard with ample areas for kids to run around, as well as a firepit. The perennial and annual gardens are kept natural and organic for the sake of all things wild and we love our greenhouse which is also used for wood storage in the winter. There is a yurt on the property that is rented out as well. It is a separate listing so if you’re into glamping, this is the spot! It could also be an add on to the house if you have a big group. The driveway will be the only shared area so we ask guests to please respect each groups privacy. Upon entering from the deck, you will find yourself in the hallway of hooks. The laundry room and the downstairs full bathroom are off the hook hallway. The bathroom has a clawfoot bathtub and other unique fixtures. The kitchen is next and its fully stocked with whatever you may need to cook at home. We provide coffee and tea while pantry items, condiments, herbs and spices are readily available. We added a Nespresso machine for those of you into that but at this time will not be providing the pods. Bring your own pods or they can be purchased at Shaws on Auburn st in Portland.The next stop is the open concept dining room and living room. The dining room table can seat 4 and a highchair and the bar at the end of the kitchen can seat 4. The living room has a wrap around couch and a large screen tv. YouTube TV is provided. Firestick is used for streaming all your favorite apps. The woodstove is located here as well and the coziness is undeniable. If wood stoves are not your thing then no worries. There is a monitor heater that heats the whole house no problem. Next, there are two doors heading into the downstairs bedroom which has a queen size bed and a super awesome heated mattress pad for those cold winter nights. Next head up the stairs and enter the master bedroom which has the king size bed as well as the full size bed. High ceilings and a very unique shower are present here and are calling for a visit. The shower has a steam feature which is great for relaxation. There is a smaller tv with a dvd player and plenty of movies to choose from Also a chromecast player to stream with your apps.My place is a very unique and magical space and I'm happy to help guests at anytime for any reason and to share this home that I am very proud of. Thanks for considering my place and feel free to ask any questions. FYI I do have two security cameras located outside. One is on the front porch and the other is located on the side of the house pointed towards the driveway. Lastly, please kindly book for the correct amount of people in your group as I do not allow parties or unauthorized guests. I aim to keep pricing competitive for groups of two so my listing price is set for two guests. After that four more people are allowed for a total of 6 guests with an extra person fee of $30 per person per night after the initial 2. This fee helps pay for the extra cleaning, laundry and maintenance/utilities that occur with more guests. Lastly experience with a woodstove is preferred otherwise please use the monitor heater in winter. The pet fee is $75 per stay. No wiggle room there. Remodeled historic, rustic Maine lakeside camp with dock on Little Sebago. Recently renovated kitchen and patio, with Adirondacks around the fire pit for evening drinks. Dining table and coffee nook on the old-fashioned sleeping porch surrounded by windows to look out on the lake only 20 feet away. Great fishing and swimming off the dock. Little Sebago is an excellent lake for paddling as it's much less windy than Big Sebago. The public boat launch is on the middle basin, so you can rent a boat or bring your own and bring it to our section of the lake through a navigable sandy narrows. Loons nest on the nearby islands and are frequent visitors. Our camp is westward facing for beautiful sunsets. The camp is dog friendly -- just let us know -- with a small pet fee. The camp features a main floor bedroom and two bedrooms on the second floor, one facing the lake and one adorned with a rock chimney. A full bed is also present on the second floor for kids or a teenager, and there is a sleeping nook under the stairs in the living room.The camp is perfect for a quiet lakeside getaway. "BAY VIEW" is a beautiful waterfront cabin just feet from the shore of Casco Bay's Merriconeag Sound, which separates the two sides of Harpswell. Smell the salt air, listen to the sounds of waves lap the shoreline and watch the eagles, sea gulls and local Lobstermen haul their traps. You may even see seals at play in the waters. Whether at sunrise or the end of the day, there is something for your senses to take in as you relax by the shoreline or on the deck enjoying the coast of Maine. "Bay-View" accommodates six guests with a bedroom downstairs (queen size bed) and an upstairs open loft with two beds, both queen size. The beds, bed linens, towels, all kitchen utensils and Appliances (minus refrigerator), were brand new in 2022. Bed linens and towels are provided.Prepare your own meal in the kitchen, on the outdoor grill or get an evening take-out meal at many of Harpswell's wonderful restaurants. There are also some non-human “neighbors” who also appreciate peace and quiet, such as the loon who nests 1,000 feet away and the eagle who fishes around the pond daily and sometimes pulls a catch out of the water right in front of the property.If you’re looking for a place to blast your radio, yell like Tarzan, and generally run wild, I can recommend some great rental homes on larger lakes more suited to your vacation needs.ABOUT WOODS PONDWoods Pond is 2 miles long by ¾ of a mile wide and 29 feet deep in the center, giving you ample space for your favorite lake activities including swimming, boating, water skiing, sailing, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing. My home has a private sandy beach for swimming and lake lounging. The private beach is 16 feet wide and you can walk out onto the sand directly from the lawn. The sandy beach is very special and unique—all the newer properties on the pond have rocky shores.Woods Pond is home to Maine’s most magnificent wildlife: loons, bald eagles, the great blue heron ospreys, black bears, deer, and the most photographed animal—the Maine moose. For the angler, the pond is stocked with large and small mouth bass, brown trout, rainbow trout, salmon, white perch, pickerel, and hornpout (New England catfish).HISTORY OF THE PROPERTYWoods Pond is named after Bridgton’s first surveyor, Solomon Wood, who came to the area in the fall of 1776. In 1935 and 1936, my grandfather visited and made his own careful study of all the open land around the pond, searching for just the right spot to build his dream camp. He settled on a location that received the most sunlight throughout the day and had the perfect sunset view directly across the pond every night. Built in two phases, the original camp on the property was one of the first structures on Woods Pond. My grandfather started out by building the summer home’s living quarters in 1936. Later, a large porch was added. The porch was actually taken from a storefront in town, loaded into an ox-drawn sleigh, and brought across the frozen pond to the property in wintertime. When spring arrived, my grandfather attached the porch to the main structure. And he built the first dock out of tree trunks in 1938. In 1995, my family built the existing log home on the site of the original camp. I’ve spent the past 4 years renovating the home and property to create a getaway retreat.The cabin's interior was designed to bring the outdoors inside, with natural stone interior walls, stone and tile flooring, granite countertops, and hardwood floors. It has been equipped with amenities of a comfortable home, including a stainless-steel refrigerator, gas stove, microwave, Keurig coffeemaker and traditional coffeemaker, washer and dryer, bed linens, bath towels, cooking utensils, outdoor gas grill, two indoor remote control gas fireplaces, flat screen TVs in every room. Thanks to a dug well, crystal clear drinking water flows from every faucet.The exterior features a lakeside deck, 16' foot wide sandy beach, a Jamaican-style hammock, a 30' by 6' foot wood dock, a horseshoe pit, abundant flowers, wild Maine blueberry bushes, an extra-large groomed lawn, and a recessed, fire-brick-lined bonfire pit just 8 feet from the water’s edge.WHAT'S IN TOWNJust 4 miles away, you’ll find the town of Bridgton, Maine. Cozy, comfortable and charming! Great outdoor deck for eating and relaxing. This cabin is suitable for guests of all ages though we do require the person booking to be at least 27 years old. Although we love dogs, not pets are allowed. The kitchen and living room have an open concept with a wood burning fireplace for winter months. There are two bedrooms downstairs with queen beds and two small bedrooms upstairs with twin beds. We also have a 3 season room great for summer nights.Guest accessEntire house except our basement and garage, front and backyard, firepit, and our private association beach a short stroll away. We have two kayaks and a paddleboard, 2 adult life jackets and one kid life jacket available to use.Other things to noteDuring the winter the driveway is plowed and the deck is shoveled. We leave salt and sand in the 3 season room for you. Driveway can get icy please use caution. The association road to get to our cabin is also plowed however, we suggest a 4WD or AWD to ensure no one gets stuck. The host has no control over any roads except for the driveway. March - May is mud season we also suggest 4WD or AWD.Plenty of trails for snowmobiles, and snowshoeing. Snowmobiles available for rent in the area.We do not give refunds for inclement weather please plan accordingly.Absolutely no smoking indoors or in the three season room. All smoking should be done outside - ashtrays provided outside on the patio area. Please do not flick cigarettes in our flower beds or around the yard use the ashtray.
