Big Canoe also offers a 27-hole championship Mountain Course designed by Joe Lee, one of the finest Racquet Clubs in the Atlanta area with 10 courts to choose from, two pools, sandy beach areas, paddleboats, paddleboards, fishing, boat rentals, a 17,000 square foot fitness center, an indoor lap pool, hot tub, dry sauna, canoes, kayaks, beach volleyball, two playgrounds, bocce ball courts, picnic areas, the most beautiful rockslide and a restaurant all within the gates of this beautiful community. There are many options for daily adventures with fees paid directly to Big Canoe. These fees are not included in the rental of Laurel Woods. Guests should be aware that falsely claiming a pet as a service animal is a serious offense with steep consequences. As of late 2023, the fine for this violation has increased from $300 to $1,000. In addition to the financial penalty, offenders may also be required to complete 30 hours of community service. Importantly, this is not just a civil matter—impersonating a service animal is classified as a misdemeanor, meaning it carries a criminal charge. A Plummer cabin is characterized by cedar walls, pine floors, and a rustic, nature-focused design with features like cathedral ceilings, exposed beams, and screened porches. Plummer cabins offer a unique and authentic cabin experience with a connection to nature.Today's Big Canoe is an 8,000-acre private, gated community in the foothills of North Georgia's Blue Ridge Mountains, known for its natural beauty, extensive trail system, three lakes for recreation, championship golf course, and racquet sports. Visitors must be a guest of a property owner or have rental accommodations to access the many amenities and natural areas within the community. Our remodeled and updated Plummer cabin is a traditional Plummer build. Pine flooring, cedar walls, high cathedral ceiling, exposed beams, and large windows exposing the indoors to the beautiful mountain view. Rustic Charm offers modern updates, such as a tankless water heater, central heat and air, a gas grill, gas cooktop, and all new appliances. There are 2 bedrooms on the lower level and one bedroom (open to main floor) in the loft. The bathroom on the main floor has a tiled shower, while the Jack-and-Jill bathroom on the lower floor has a shower/tub combo. The cabin is comfortably furnished with high-end selections yet fitting for a 70’s-built original Plummer cabin. Rustic Charm features three floors, two levels of decking, and a screened-in porch allowing you to enjoy the wooded mountains and the stunning wildlife of Big Canoe. The lower deck is private to the King room, with secluded seating, nature watching, and an old fashioned hanging lantern.The common area centers around a wood-burning fireplace, built with stacked Tennessee field stones. Amenities inside the cabin include Wi-Fi internet, streaming TV in main common area, TVs in both bedrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen with gas cooktop. The loft offers a cozy 'getaway' setting overlooking the main gathering area and fireplace. The cabin accommodates 6 adults. Comfortable beds with brand new high-end mattresses, lots of pillows, bedding and blankets to spare. One King Bed, two Queen beds, and one Twin XL.Rustic Charm was built on a hillside alongside of a road that dead ends at one of many entrances to the Big Canoe hiking trails. Almost no through traffic on this road. You are welcome to do as much or as little as you wish to make your stay as memorable as possible.Enjoy the view of the mountains from the top deck while grilling out and playing lawn games. You’ll feel like you’re up in the sky among the treetops surrounded by gorgeous foliage and wildlife. Cozy up by the fireplace and enjoy spending quality time with family and friends.The spaceAmenities inside Big Canoe include golf, tennis and pickleball courts, the Beach Club, Fitness center, Lake Petit, boat/kayak/raft rentals, a rock slide, hiking trails, a Jeep off-road trail, children’s play areas, play fields and parks. (Some amenities are additional fees; please see list below).The home has been stylishly renovated and designed, remodeled and upgraded with new Black Stainless-steel appliances, Keurig coffee machine for single cup and pot, blender, and air fryer microwave. Enjoy the fully equipped kitchen, with everything you need to prepare a meal at home. Each bedroom includes it’s very own TV. We provide several board games, playing cards and puzzles. Additionally, we offer two outside deck spaces. On the lower level deck you’ll find a giant 4-in-a-row game, corn-hole, and tumbling tower set. Take in the view from the upper deck as you grill and dine outside.NOTE: There are 2 outdoor security cameras, one at the door and one facing the driveway. Big Canoe Community rules must be followed by all guests. Please be sure to adhere to the 25 per hour speed limit. Most importantly please DO NOT leave food, trash, or recycling outside the home or in your car as it may attract bears and other wildlife.The house is three stories tall with two sets of stairs on the inside. The master bedroom is located on the main floor, has a king size bed and a dedicated office space. There are two bedrooms in the lower level of the home, one bedroom boasts a king size bed, and the 2nd bedroom has a bunk bed that can sleep up to four.We are minutes away from hiking trails, the children’s playfield park, the beach club, wellness center, and the marina at Lake Petit.Guest accessYou will have access to the full house with the exception of a few utility closets.Other things to note-We recommend grocery shopping on your way up since the nearest Grocery store (IGA) is approximately 20 minutes away-We do not provide food; please be sure to bring all food items and cooking ingredients you may need. We do provide communal spices (salt, black pepper, and garlic powder). Our coffee maker supports both Keurig pods and regular brewed coffee. We do our best to provide you with your first morning cup of coffee but please come prepared with your own coffee.-We provide hand soaps, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.
