Once you turn into the community you will need to drive roughly about 5 miles to the house. For the first mile, there is paved road, following that is an easy 4 miles drive on grated dirt roads. During the winter months, there is a plow for the main road. Although this is the case, it is still recommended that you have AWD or a 4x4 vehicle as the snow can accumulate quite high at time.The driveway is plowed and maintained in the event of snow. We have wonderful mountain and valley views and tons of wildlife (especially deer, singing birds, and chipmunks!). A collection of unique, vintage knick-knacks from the 19th and 20th centuries: an original telephone built back in the 1900's, 1940's Jukebox, Christmas ornaments and cabin decorations from the late 20th century, and a set of eternal classics of literature including 'The Scarlet Letter', and 'Robinson Crusoe'. The blue range cabin holds a deep and family-friendly history back from 1875. The property features 2 parking spaces, one on the upper level, and another on the lower level, next to the cabin. Both parking spaces are available to guests at all times, due to the dirt road leading to the cabin, some guests may or may not prefer to park easier. Per owner's request, a 3rd parking space may be available. Admire the mountain views from the fenced in backyard, and hear the sounds of Mosquito creek running through the back of the property. The house features a large high ceiling living room with views out to the mountains beyond, as well as custom kitchen with modern appliances and a vintage AGA stove. Relax and re-charge in the 3 bedrooms, each with comfortable mattresses and clean white sheets. The primary suite offers an en-suite bathroom with radiant floor heating and a clawfoot tub/shower.This is custom-built log cabin with 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and a chef's kitchen with vintage AGA stove. Outside of the living room is a covered front porch with adirondack chairs overlooking a fenced in back yard with aspen trees and an incredible view of the mountains and creek. On the side of the house is a fenced in deck and a grill, perfect for outdoor dinners on a warm night.The main floor contains the kitchen, dining room and living room with high vaulted ceilings. There's a wood stove and a bar area, and the dining room has a large wooden table that can comfortably seat 6.Downstairs is our laundry room, as well as full bath and two bedrooms, one with two full beds and one with a queen. The downstairs floors are all equipped with radiant heat.Upstairs is a large primary suite with vaulted ceilings and a king bed. There is a on-suite full bathroom with vintage clawfoot tub + shower, radiant heat, and views out to the creek which meanders through the property.Things to note:Please be aware that this cabin is at 10,500 feet of elevation, higher even than Breckenridge (9,728). As such, we advise doing some research ahead of time on how to best acclimate to high elevation, especially if you are coming from lower elevation. Staying hydrated is key, especially if you plan to be active. Know your limits: The Rocky mountains are one of the greatest playgrounds in the country, and the house awaits with comfortable beds and thoughtfully designed amenities to rest and recharge.Cell service is not great in the mountains. We have starlink internet with high speed connection (80 - 100 Mbps).The creek by the house is yours to use, but swim at your own risk. These are also heaters and n addition to the baseboard & wall heaters.Staircase: Embrace the unique charm of our spiral staircase leading to the upper rooms. Larger checked luggage might face challenges on these snug stairs. The staircase is not recommended for small children either.Bugs: We have our home professionally managed to control pests. However, on a rare occasion, we have insects make it past the barriers set by the pest control into the cabin. If you are extremely bothered by bugs, definitely reconsider booking any remote cabin in Colorado (but check out our other rentals!).Mud Season & Winter Driving: Early spring runoff may make our road muddy. Accessible year-round, our cabin recommends AWD/4WD with good tire tread in snowy months (Nov-Apr).Outdoor Fires: Due to wildfires, please refrain from using any ember-producing equipment.Water Source: Enjoy safe drinking water from our 283ft deep well. Endless trails for biking and hiking during the spring & summer months, Hoosier Pass from Breckenridge to Fairplay is a great opportunity to experience the leaves changing during the fall months, and of course, multiple ski resorts for all of your winter needs.Guest access:- Guests will have access to the entire home & property.- Guests will access the property with an electronic keypad on the front door. The door code will be specific to each individual stay.Other things to note:🚙 A 4X4 vehicle is required from October through May in order to safely access the property. The driveway and roads are plowed but you will need 4-wheel drive for deeper snow after a storm. It can also become slick if the snow melts and refreezes. We are not responsible if you choose to come to the home without the proper equipment during the winter months. The driveway is steep and we suggest reversing down the driveway in order to ensure a smooth exit. 4 cars maximum on the driveway and absolutely no street parking allowed.Please remember to lock all of your car doors and do not leave any food or trash outdoors.
